Best computer for Etsy?

So I've had my laptop (a Sony Vaio) for about five years, and I'm thinking about replacing it. I'm wondering if anyone has a computer that they love or recommend for Etsy business. I would need to be mobile, so I'm open to anything other than a desktop. It needs to work well for all aspects of Etsy - uploading and editing pictures, navigating the Etsy site, paypal, blogging, social media, spreadsheets, etc.

Other things I'd need it for, other than Etsy business: basic word processing, streaming TV shows, itunes, and really that's about it.

Any thoughts or recommendations?

Just about anything that you can install your software on will work.

I use a desktop that is about 10 years old now and it works fine.

It will all depend on the OS that you are planning on running and how much you want to spend in upgrading your software.

Agreeing with crochetgal. Pretty much any laptop will do. I won't buy Dells as I used to work for them. Long story but I will never support them again. Had a Gateway but it was poorly built and broke a year later.

After talking with a friend who repairs computers, I now have a refurbished Lenovo I bought off ebay. They are built to last. He said that or some HPs are pretty good but to avoid Dell, Acer, and Gateway. They make an inferior product he said. My experience with those brands is that I agree with him.

Windows 7 is my favorite OS. I had Windows 8 and it's okay but I don't like the new "Start" screen, apps, etc.

I have a Dell laptop and a geeky friend (who recommended Dell) also said I should get the longest in-home warranty they were offering. I'm glad I got that warranty because it's had 2 major issues, each with multiple tech visits.

At this point, I think my next laptop will be bought from QVC, because they claim to have "U.S.-based tech support."

I always buy Toshiba laptops - this is my 4th- and do love them. This one has a touch screen too and I can take the screen off and use it like a tablet which is great. I dont like Windows 8 though but all new computers are coming out with it-- you can't get Win 7 anymore.

I am a mac. I have a snow leopard. My computer is 5 years old and works very great. Macs are worth the money. My whole family are mac. We used to have windows. Anybody could learn to use a mac, they are very easy computers

I LOVE my MacBook Pro. More expensive than a Windows machine for sure, but worth every penny in my opinion. I'm fixing my sister's Lenovo laptop for the millionth time as I'm writing this, because it keeps getting viruses and malware. I have never once had a virus or malware problem with any of the Macs I've owned (*knocking on wood*). My Macs have also far outlived any other computers I've ever had. When I upgraded, I gave my 2006 Macbook to my mom, and it still works like a dream! Feel free to PM me if you have any questions or want more info. I agree with Jessica. I received my MacBook Pro as a gift from my family because I was so tethered to my desktop. They wanted me to be mobile and be able to work on Etsy and hang out in the family room with them. It took some adjusting to, but I wouldn't trade it for the world. Nor would I trade my family!

I have an HP Probook4530S and love it!! I purchased it from a local small local computer store so have good support. STAY AWAY FROM PLACES LIKE BEST BUY. I have a Samsung tablet and smart phone and love them too. I like the idea of the Toshiba though that has a touch screen. If you have an android phone stick with android operating system. I happen to prefer android over Mac due to cost. Mac products are simply not in my budget.

I had a Sony Vaio that was good for years, but I've probably gotten the most life out of my HP machines. The last HP laptop I had lasted me for 7 years. The only reason I had to replace it was because of the hinges in the lid. After I get those fixed I'm going to pass it off to a friend, since it would be a massive upgrade compared to the netbook she uses now.

I'm not a fan of Macs and Apple because I think they're worse at clamping down digital innovation than Microsoft ever was, never mind FoxConn etc. That said, I haven't run Windows in years either. Using Linux has probably done a lot to extend the life of my computers.

Nothin' but Macs for the last 22 years! They're power horses. Having a design background, I always have multiple Adobe programs open along with other programs and never have problems. They last forever and are just intuitive.

Random question for the Mac users -- how are iPads for Etsy management? Can you do photo editing, listing management, etc. pretty easily now that you can get peripherals like a keyboard and mouse? I'd love to be able to have an Etsy-devoted iPad if any of you can recommend it.

The great thing about macs is that Apple just does not forget older macs and move on to the latest thing. They develop their upgrades to be upgradedable onto macs up to 5 years old. Same goes for the iphone. I have an older mac and I used to have an older Iphone. My whole family and even many members of my extended family use macs

Ipad i don't have one but my parents do. But the apps for the iphone are very much the same as the ipad. On my iphone I can get photo editing software and edit the photo's. I also was able to get a different camera app to take all my photo's.
There is the Etsy app and The Etsy Seller app available for both iphone and ipad. The Etsy seller app allows you to list items and do all sorts of things from your phone or ipad. I have the etsy app on my kindle, but i perfer using it on my phone my phone has 3g internet with wireless and my kindle just uses wireless. Would I run my etsy store from just my iphone no because I perfer my computer because it is a little more freeing with the mouse and the iphone still has a lot of limitations as to what you can and cant do in the apps. I actually do use both the iphone and my mac to run my store. i use my phone for when I am on the run or can't be near my mac. I use my computer at home. I can understand wanting to use a ipad because it is small and easy to carry. Depending on the ipad you get you could be getting half the ram and half the gigabytes of a regular computer in an ipad. But you can also use the ipad for things like a card reader at shows (an android and iphone also work with a card reader too).

One thing that I have found with the iphone is that it is a money suck. You buy the apps, the extra chargers, the protective case, the music. Ever since I got my new phone I have spent money on music, apps, in app purchases, pandora, itunes match, ihome adapter, protective case, dry bag.

Any laptop brand computer will work with Etsy. With mobile devices such as ipad, iphone, or Android phones or tablets.

With mobile devices, it's not about the device, it's about the Etsy apps that you download and use. All the apps work very well
