After years of not doing much, I've decided to work on my shop and make this a real business. Almost like starting from scratch. A few days ago I re-organized my shop with better sections and put backlinks in on every item. I've seen traffic increase by 50 to 100% already, and I'm getting more incoming search hits than ever before. It's nice to see an easy idea that works out. Now, on to the harder ideas....
Wow, that's an impressive improvement! I wouldn't have thought they would have made such a difference. I have seen back links but never thought twice about it. I will try it! Thanks Ray!
Thank you! Good reminder. And for those of us who have some backlinks - go check them to make sure they go to listings or sections that are current. I was guilty of that!
My listings are usually one of the top three sources of views in my shop on a daily basis. I put backlinks in every single listing. It's become habit for me and is a routine part of creating a listing now.
@Wendy, your shop stats will say "Your Listings" under Traffic Sources on Etsy.
PS: you will LOVE the new format (under beta test right now) because it automatically has thumbnail photos of 8 more items in your shop that go under the same shop category, with a note "You might also like"....instant backlinks!
Yay for you and your new effort! I love back links, they are sometimes a bit tedious, especially if you have to add a new one to each and every listing, but they are so worth it in the end!
