Are you using Shop Updates?

Just learned from another thread that Etsy will be promoting sellers who use Shop Updates.....

I personally like to use Shop Updates so it's a welcome news to me. I know that there are some issues with the fact that it limits to those who use smart phones only. I think Etsy should make it available to both smart phones and laptops/desktops.

I like to post some pictures that I might not had chance to include in my listings, or some behind the scene or packaging photos. And I just realized that it might limit to 5 pages only because my previous postings were all gone!

I was wondering what's your thought on this? Like it? Dislike it? What do you post on Shop Updates?

As I said in the other thread...Shop Updates should be made available to EVERYONE on the site. And not to some sellers or some countries and not others.

I don't like how we are divided between those who use smart phones and those who use laptops. And Etsy promoting certain shops to buyers in such a manner. And is this going to be free?

And those who can't use the Shop Updates how will they be promoted? Pay for promoted ads?? Sign up for Direct Checkout in the hope they'll be preferred in the searches?

I'm all about moving forward, learning new things, adapting and progressing. But this development I don't like.

Can you please share your source? What do you mean by "promoting". Etsy has made shop updates more visible by including them on the homepage. Is that what you're referring to?

So Etsy will be emailing those who choose to receive update emails to announce the "shop updates" feature. And buyers will go to the homepage and see updates from shops that they already follow. Nothing regarding promotion in search position.

I'm not sure what the alarm is about. They are just promoting a new feature, not specific sellers.

The shop updates are already on the home page. It's all free.

I've done about 5 shop updates. I love them. The very first one I did, the item tagged in the update sold within hours. It's very quick and easy to do. I think it's a great opportunity to gain free promotional ads for your shop on the home page of anyone who has favorited your shop.

I love shop updates!
I like posting "behind the scenes" photos of paintings when they're still in progress.
I love seeing shop updates from other shops too!
Like others have said, they should make this feature available on laptops as well. I have a smartphone but I prefer using a laptop to run my shop.

I do regular, pretty awesome shop updates, but nobody looks at them, so I'm not sure this anything to get worked up about.

Ok, I'm brand new to selling on Etsy. Does the item you link to in a shop update have to be the item in your photo? Or can I post any behind the scenes photos, etc and link to any item I want in my shop?

I like the shop updates. It will be interesting to see if Etsy promoting them more will mean any more sales for us.

I think you can link to any listing in your shop, but it makes sense that you link something relates to it, right?

I saw shop updates but I didn't know what they were! I just added my first. I did a shop coupon code. I guess we shall see:). I am hoping that after I did more listings and fix my photos things will improve.

You can take a pic of anything and put in the shop update then link it to one of your items. For instance, if you have an Easter décor item, take a new photo of it amongst your Easter table setting, then link it to the individual item you have for sale. It's super quick and easy to do. Check out other shops' updates for ideas.

I've been using them and love them. I pull photos from my Instagram, or vice versa. I typically reserve Instagram for my behind the scenes anyways, so it works out well. I love being able to show my customers extra photos of my products. I just wish there was a way on the listing to see the updates for that product.

I have been getting notices on my phone for about a week or so from Etsy telling me that some of my favorite shops have been busy - when you click the link it takes you to the updates from shops I've favorites. It's a nice way to see what's new.

Rebecah can you make a listing maybe label it coming soon to not buy and mark the item for 1,00 so people won't buy it. Then send the shop update links to it? Maybe if people have been following it they will purchase it when the item is live.

Is the shop update feature only on the app? I can't seem to find it on the website.

I like shop updates when I remember to use the feature...I only turn my phone on if I have to, though, so if it was available on a pc that would be great.
