Are my prices too high?

Everytime I renew my listings I get 50-100 views, but no purchases :( Are my prices too high? I'd hugely appreciate any help!

Thank you so much!!

Re: Are my prices too high?

No, the price is on par for original pieces of art. It may help to offer pieces for those who cannot afford it though, such as postcards, prints, and greeting cards. There is not as much profit with those, but it helps to promote your artwork and reach out to fans, who may come back to buy an original.

Re: Are my prices too high?

I agree. I think your prices are right. Your work is beautiful. I also agree that it helps to offer items at different price points.

Re: Are my prices too high?

Your work is very beautiful! I agree with the others, perhaps offering a few prints, cards, etc. could draw in future sales for the originals. As a buyer, I love your items, however we're in the middle of moving. I love decorating my journal with ACEO cards, greeting cards, and small prints however. It would be neat to have a smaller version now, and something bigger when (if) we ever settle down.

Re: Are my prices too high?

Ditto to all of the above! Your artwork is beautiful, your photos show them off well, and your prices are not unreasonable at all. However, when looking at the etsy shops with the most number of sales in art, they seem to be shops that sell prints. There's so much artwork out there that I love, but I myself know that I can only afford to buy prints and greeting cards!

Re: Are my prices too high?

You are a very talented artist and I love your work. I would add the cost of shipping to the price of the artwork and then promote free shipping. I would do this now while you only have a few items in your store.

Re: Are my prices too high?

I think you absolutely got the right to decide how much does your work worth. As long as you think your price is ok, then it's really fine. :)
Art and original design is priceless.

Re: Are my prices too high?

Hi!
I think your prices are better than moderate, but with todays economy things are moving slowly, have you tried maybe a discount on just a few pieces to see if it gets people to buy? If, you see good results, then you'll know that a few dollars off might work.
I personally like my prices to be rounded numbers, but my husband insists that $39.99 looks better than $40.00 I think I will give it a try:D

I hope you have many sales, your work is great, you're talented!!!

Re: Are my prices too high?

Hi Katie I don't think your prices are too much at all. Have you thought about offering international shipping? I'm based in the UK but many of my sales come from outside of the UK. I find that it helps to have prices for international shipping already listed as people like to buy without having to ask you to add the shipping price on for them.

Re: Are my prices too high?

One more observation Katie, if I was you I might update my policies to make them sound a little more friendly. It's a difficult one as you need to make it clear where you stand on refunds etc but it's important to do so in a way that doesn't sound too stern.

For example - 'I have taken care to describe and photograph all artwork as accurately as possible, however variations in individual PC monitor hues make it impossible for every artwork to look EXACTLY the same on every PC.'

My wording isn't perfect but in case you're interested, this is how I've worded it in my policies:

'I love happy customers! Therefore it is really important to me that you are happy with my work and the service I provide. For that reason, I always ensure items are accurately described, provide plenty of photos and am more than happy to provide additional photos and answer any questions prior to purchase.

In return, I ask that you are quite sure you want an item before purchasing it and contact me first with any questions you might have - including asking for any additional photographs/close-ups of specific details. '

I've also included an option for people to return items if they change their minds but have made it clear they're responsible for shipping costs and any refunds will be net of shipping costs. Feel free to have a look at my policies for some inspiration!

Your prices are perfect in my opinion - in fact they could be higher for such beautiful work!

Katie, I love your work, you've taken great pictures. I like the idea of offering prints, if it's not too much work.

Re: Are my prices too high?

I love your work! I love buying prints from artists, especially if they are hand signed. My house if full of them because I can't afford the originals. :D

Re: Are my prices too high?

Hi Katie,

your work is fantastic and I do not think that your pricing is too high. I did straight away fall in love with that one:

I would agree with Louise that you might want to consider international shipping. I would also suggest that you could maybe convert the inches into centimetres, so that both inches and centimetres are shown.
All the best.

One more thing - you might want to fill in your About section. That seems to have helped my sales!

Re: Are my prices too high?

Love your paintings!!! And I think your work is amazing! Beautiful! How do you get so many views when you renew your listings? I'm lucky to get 5.

Re: Are my prices too high?

your work is so beautiful, but original paintings can be tough! Me personally, don't have a lot of room for buying paintings and stuff, more of a lavish gift or something. Your prices aren't unreasonable, and your work alone i think will help you get sales, but try out maybe a few ower prices, see how it goes, goodluck!

Re: Are my prices too high?

Hi Katie,

I agree with everyone else, your prices are perfectly fine. What I do however recommend is that flesh out your listings –check out the etsy post about this topic www.etsy.com/blog/en/2012/how-to-write-enticing-item-descriptions/ . Having full descriptions, that tells the buyer everything about your painting, helps. For example: Shipping –let the buyer know what carrier you use, how the painting is packed (paper and bubble wrap?), what type of shipping service is provided ground or priority mail, etc. … The more information you provide the happier and more comfortable potential buyers tend to be.
