Are my prices too high?

I've recently reopened my shop after being away for a while, but I'm wondering if my prices are too high. I'm not getting many views and I'm definitely not getting any sales.

So what do you guys think? Are my prices too high?

Thank you!

Re: Are my prices too high?

Hello Sarah,
I don't think your prices are too high. They seem reasonable to me.

BUT I do have a question - are you making a profit? Only you know if they are too high or not. Crunch the numbers and see what the bottom line says.
Don't compare them to what other people are selling like items for. I have seen some shops here on Etsy that sell similar things as mine for 1/2 the price. I know they can't be making any money. I'm not a sweat shop, I'm not a discount store...
You are a talented designer on a site where, hopefully, people come in search for handmade, unique items. And that doesn't come cheep. :)

Re: Are my prices too high?

i do not think your prices are to high, you need to consider to put more items in your shop though, the more you have , the more you get seen,
also do you promote off Etsy? like pinterest, wanelo.com, facebook, blogs, kaboodle, weheartthis, reddit , there are tons out there

Re: Are my prices too high?

No! They are not. I would not go any lower. If anything I would consider what you are spending on supplies and time invested and make sure you are making a profit. You might even be able to go a little higher.

Re: Are my prices too high?

Thanks for the opinions guys! I have a pinterest account and I'm in the process of making a facebook page for my shop as well. I'm also working on making and listing more items. Hopefully, with all of that, I can maybe start to make a few sales and then I might could even raise my prices a bit.

Re: Are my prices too high?

Hi Sarah! I think you should raise the prices of your crocheted headbands and flower appliques. The headbands *look* more expensive than $10. :)

Re: Are my prices too high?

I agree, raise your prices at least a touch. I was reluctant to do so at first, but after I raised my prices I actually got more looks (and sales soon followed!) Adding more goodies, and even add in an option for a custom listing: include a description that includes information on items you are able to customize and other pertinent information. I would also pop in a custom listing offering hand-designed, one-of-a-kind earrings that can be sold in sets as bridesmaids gifts.... THAT should get at least a few hits! Good luck & welcome back!

Re: Are my prices too high?

I agree with Dani, also I dont think the flat pictures of your headbands are doing them any justice. Maybe use the flat picture as the last one but I'd use the other 4 slots as shown on the model in this listing. They look great on her and I really like how you show where it can be tied and adjusted. Maybe take a picture of 3-4 headbands laid side by side to show that you have a variety of colors to offer. Up your price to $12(just an example but sell a two pack for $22(again just an example)

Re: Are my prices too high?

No your prices don't seem high. I've noticed an increase in the cost of supplies, stop to think what it will cost to remake your items, raise your items
a little if need be. Customers will understand, they see this everywhere in retail.

Re: Are my prices too high?

Hey Sarah,
I agree with Dani. I think you should raise the price.
As a knitter myself I know how much time you spent on making your knitted items.
Also, on some of your items the shipping cost is almost a half of the item price. Sometimes it can be a turn off for a buyer.
Good luck!

Re: Are my prices too high?

Thank you so much guys! I was worried that my prices were too high, but now I know that they might could even be a little bit higher :)

And Natasha, thank you for the suggestions about the photos! I'm going to take your advice on that.

Re: Are my prices too high?

I definitely think you could benefit from raising your prices. I am wondering how you have cut corners to make your items at such a low price... Will it be a cheap product (which I don't think your items are cheap quality... but as a buyer I relate quality to price in some ways... and I realize high price doesn't always equal high quality and vise versa...) Just something to consider :)

Re: Are my prices too high?

I agree with others above! I also wonder why the odd change in the prices. For example you have this listing: http://www.etsy.com/listing/101398292/mermaid-earrings-beach-earrings-seashell for $12.68 To me the 68 cents is distracting and would likely turn me off as a buyer. I think many Etsy shoppers prefer whole numbers as they don't want to feel "tricked" by big box store style pricing tactics. That is just my opinion.
Best of luck to you!

Re: Are my prices too high?

That's an interesting thought Ali. I have the prices set were they are because I was trying to keep it affordable for buyers, especially since I'm a newer shop, but I wouldn't be making much of a profit from it though.

I can't believe I was worried that they were too high, lol. I had just seen people selling similar things for even less than I was was so I started to second guess myself.

Re: Are my prices too high?

I totally agree with you Kelly, but that too was something I had seen some other sellers doing, and it seemed to be working for them, so I thought I would experiment a bit. I am going to be fixing that though.

Re: Are my prices too high?

I think they're too low too. Check out this Etsy workshop:

It was very inspiring and well done.
