I want to be firm on payment and refunds, without sounding too harsh. Would you trust me, based on my policies? If no, what should I consider changing?
The end of the first sentence sounds a bit harsh but the second sentence softens it a bit. Perhaps you can say something like '' In order to avoid order cancellation, please make your payment within 24-hours of purchase'' and continue the 2nd sentence.
Hi Pippa - if PayPal is your only payment option, having to cancel a transaction because a buyer didn't pay shouldn't happen. PayPal will not let you complete the transaction without payment.
Good policies Pippa. I would put a note in for reserved orders. This way it won't put someone off if they can't pay right away. Set a time limit for sure!
I also would not put in the picture request either. What if someone doesn't have a camera or has difficulty figuring how to upload and send? That also might be a turn off. Perhaps request a convo first if items arrive damaged ( hopefully not!) then you can handle each one on a case by case basis?
Pippa as you live in the EU you need to apply the Distance Selling Regulations and the Electronic Commerce Regulations to your policies.
E.g. you must accept returns on EU-EU transactions whether you like it or not. The basic statement is buyer returns within 7 days of delivery and they pay the return shipping costs. If you don't say that they can in theory return any time in the following three months and you pay the shipping costs. This is only a legal requirement for EU transactions but is good practice applied to all countries. The fact is few ever want to return anything but you need to still need to state your policy.
You also need to fill in Seller Information with your name, physical address and email address.
