Are my listings too wordy?

I like to write a little something personal before I talk about the actual details of an item. I like to think a little personality goes a long way. I am wondering though, are my listings too long? Any advice is truly appreciated. Thank you.

I would switch the order on your listings - give the details then the personal information. I would think twice about some of the information - particularly when you are denigrating your own product (velcro bag).

Also, I see you ship internationally but you are not giving the metric dimensions. You may want to consider adding those too.

I would take out cute, adorable and small out of the titles!
I love your shop -- and your store name is awesome!!!!

Your shop looks great and your descriptions are fine but your SEO is really poor. You need to have longer titles that included phrases that people will actually search for. You then need to repeat your phrases exactly in your tags. Make sure you are using two or three word phrases for your tags not just single words.

OK - here goes - great work, But, you'll never be found in searches as it is now.

Hint:
Etsy searches look for titles and tags.
Google searches look for titles and descriptions.

The something personal should come after the description. What would you type in when doing a search? Cute - adorable - Ethel Jane = not likely.

It's a long tedious process learning about SEO, your shop is adorable, I love your stories, but redo your titles/descriptions/tags.

Re: Are my listings too wordy?

Love your stuff! I found the ones that were listed like 'Credit Card Wallet' easiest to understand - I could tell from the first few words what it is, what size it is approx and what to use it for.

Best of luck!

Re: Are my listings too wordy?

I agree about not denigrating your product. One of my towels has folded corners instead of mitred corners (and I think it doesn't look nearly as good) but there's nothing wrong with it so I listed it as a sample sale with a small discount and wrote

"This is the same towel as my other color grown cotton striped towels (regular size) but a sample from when I was experimenting with finishing techniques. Has folded instead of mitered corners. Everything else is the same. "

Simple and to the point but not knocking the towel.

There's also a small risk you might tick people off and lose sales. Lots of people use velcro in their products. Most hand sewn towels on Etsy use folded rather than mitered corners so I wouldn't want to say "folded corners look soooo crappy! So I'm discounting this inferior towel and going back the the more professional mitred corners. But there's nothing wrong with the towel so buy it at a discount!" That might not go over well :-)
