Are my item descriptions too long?

I've been trying my best to include all relevant info in my descriptions, but now I'm wondering if they are too long, and if customers will be put off by the length... For example, these two listings:

https://www.etsy.com/listing/107802770/business-card-chevron-professional?ref=listing-2

https://www.etsy.com/listing/197106028/seamless-pattern-digital-paper-seamless?ref=listing-8

I have one intro paragraph about what the designs can be used for, followed by other clearly-marked sections (eg. one for what files will be included, one for instructions on customization, usage, etc).

On one hand, I want customers to know everything relevant on my product, and if a section doesn't interest them, they can just skip it. For example, if they don't want to change anything on the business cards, they don't have to read the whole section on that. On the other hand, will they find my descriptions confusing?

If you were a potential customer, what would you think?

Re: Are my item descriptions too long?

I happen to like longer descriptions as a customer. (You will find others who say that shorter is better.)

I prefer the description for the digital paper -- it's long, but very easy to read with the way you have the info under headings. I also like that you emphasize that it's a digital product right in that first paragraph.

The second one for the business card I found much harder to follow, but I think that's because of the way it's laid out. It just doesn't seem to flow as nicely. It felt much longer because of all the extra spacing.

Hope that helps! Best of luck with your shop!

Re: Are my item descriptions too long?

Alicia, I really like both your descriptions. As a buyer I want to know everything about what I am buying and its very frustrating when I can't find it in the description.

And since you have headings and bullet points for each section, the info is easy to find and not too overwhelming.

Re: Are my item descriptions too long?

Thank you Michelle and Sahiba for your comments! I'm glad to know the lengths don't put you off. I'll see what I can do about the spaces for my business card descriptions.

Re: Are my item descriptions too long?

Hi Brent,

I personally find your descriptions a little bit too short (then again, I was wondering if mine were too long!). I don't usually buy clothes online, so I'm not sure what buyers look for, but perhaps you would like to include more details.
