Are my angled images too distracting or OK?

I am adding new items and images to my old postings. If YOU saw an image angled...would you click on it or would you be annoyed...?

I would love your input!!

Re: Are my angled images too distracting or OK?

I would say its more distracting, mainly because you can't see the whole image the way you have them angled. I'd be much more tempted to click on ones like this, where you can see the whole item:

Re: Are my angled images too distracting or OK?

I don't know if I would call it distracting--they certainly draw my attention because they look unusual displayed like that! It is almost art in itself, which is cool, but since you are trying to sell the art (which is awesome by the way) I would probably display it the way it is able to be hung. If your art hangs that way on the wall (like you got a cool custom frame that hung cockeyed) then certainly display it that way!

Re: Are my angled images too distracting or OK?

Maybe ...a little less angle and make sure the whole pic(or at least 90% of it) is showing.

Re: Are my angled images too distracting or OK?

I like the angle. I think it's got an artistic flair to it that makes the photos stand out. But I agree you should make sure the whole item can be seen. I'd also add that it IS distracting to have some photos upright and some angled. It it's your plan to angle everything, great. If it's not, then I might suggest you keep the angled ones on different pages than the upright ones.

All in all, though, I really like the look.

Re: Are my angled images too distracting or OK?

Hi, your work is fab! I wouldn't call it distracting either. I like seeing the spiral wires as this is very much apart of your design and shouldn't be left out. I think the pictures that show this are more interesting than those that don't show it. I think items that are landscape in shape would photograph better for Etsy but this shouldn't change your style - cos I love it!

Not sure iif that helps!

Re: Are my angled images too distracting or OK?

I can see how the angled pics are esthetically pleasing but for selling purposes, I wouldn't use them. I'd go for the straight ones and make sure the miniatures display the whole piece.

Re: Are my angled images too distracting or OK?

I have the dilemma of having an item that is pretty small when it is the thumbnail on the search page. The images I use are pretty detailed. I was hoping to just get people to click...and then they can see the full image....would it make YOU click?

Yah...the store is pretty scattered right now. All angles...all sizes. I am in the middle of revamping it (Do we every stop?? HA ha) and wanted to see what shows best.

Funny thing happened!
One of the nightlights that had an angle image just got sold! I have had that one posted since end of January and no sales....HA [happy] :O)

I like the angled photos a lot, and that you can see the wires on top of the night lights, like someone above mentioned. I would definitely click on those listings! I love your night lights by the way, so different from your jewelry but totally awesome. :)

Scrolling down the page, the angeled photos caught my attention first. I dont think they are a bad thing. Keeps your shop from all looking the same.

Re: Are my angled images too distracting or OK?

I use angle photos but sparingly. For some items it is the right angle. Of course I do show all angles in the listing

I like them (I use them myself as it's making better use of the thubnail space for the shape of my items) but do agree it would be better if yours were centred a little more.

Good to see you again!!
That is why I started another store. Very different...but a little more fun. My necklaces are my bread-n-butter at fairs, so I love them too.

Re: Are my angled images too distracting or OK?

I love the angled pictures! Your recent buyer obviously did too ;)
Variety is artistic and interesting to look at, very eye pleasing...
Because the straight up photos are taken sliiightly from the left instead of exactly straight on, they look like they tilt a little and aren't exactly centered. That has to do with lining up the edge of the frame with the outer edge parallelly. <-- never used that word before ;) Your items are beautiful!
Treat each item like the work of art that it is and whichever look better shot diagonally keep that way. Smaller detailed pictures that show the whole item and are centered can look great and get clicked on too- The other pictures can be close up and show all the details. We don't get to choose how they're cropped so barely keep that in mind while you're taking pictures, take pictures all three ways and decide when you post them and most of all, have fun :)

Re: Are my angled images too distracting or OK?

Hi,

I find them distracting also and may hurt your chances of them being used in a treasury. Having said that, I've seen shops selling flat surfaced items and they seem very 2 dimensional when all the photographs are the same. These are my two favorite photographs from your shop. Throwing a couple angled shots like the second one would break it up and keep it from looking too flat.

Re: Are my angled images too distracting or OK?

Thank you Sunshine! You are right...I was battling with slightly off images. With it being glass, I have a heck of a time going dead-on. I had to angle them slightly.

What etsy is teaching me is....to try to be a better photographer! And finding out there are many helpful talented people out there willing to share their expertise :O)

Re: Are my angled images too distracting or OK?

I love your designs and store name, Sharon!

For me, I would make all of them the same, with this background and angle below. But I would keep the top row angled, to be different. Then again, I like things a little more cohesive ;)

Re: Are my angled images too distracting or OK?

I don't care either way, as long as I can see the entire image. :)

Re: Are my angled images too distracting or OK?

To answer your earlier question, having a close up as a miniature doesn't bother me as long as it fills the whole miniature. The images that were bothering me where those where you see part of the picture but with the frame and some of the wall on either sides.
