Anyone read any Etsy books?

Has anyone read any books on Etsy success? I've been browsing Barnes & Noble online and have found an Etsy guide for dummies, written by a successful show owner who's had over 8,000 sales on here. There are dozens of other Etsy books but I'm not sure if they're worth it, or if it's going to be all the SEO/tag/photo advice that I can get in this team!

Any thoughts?

Re: Anyone read any Etsy books?

I researched books a couple of weeks ago, but didn't find any that were worth buying. Most of the helpful information I've found is on the Internet. I really like handmadeology.com (has good info on seo and the like). I also found jeffbullas.com that has really great articles about promoting on Facebook, pinterest, etc.

Hope this helps!
Logan

Re: Anyone read any Etsy books?

Thanks, Logan. I was leaning toward not buying a book, since it seems there's so much info online, like you said. You helped make my mind up! Thanks for the links!

Re: Anyone read any Etsy books?

these are my favorites

I'd rather be in the studio (this is geared more towards artists like painters, etc but applies to most people)
Handmade Marketplace by Kari Chapin
How to Make Money Using Etsy by Timothy Adam (the guy who runs handmadeology)

I'm a second vote for Handmade Marketplace by Kari Chapin, a really handy guide and easy to read :)

Re: Anyone read any Etsy books?

I'll add another vote for Handmade Marketplace. It's the only craft related book that I keep and refer to regularly - lots of great information for branding yourself and your products.

Re: Anyone read any Etsy books?

Well, I just WROTE one--a word guide for writing item descriptions, and I'm hoping people find it helpful.

When I started on Etsy I read How to Make Money Using Etsy by Timothy Adam, and it would be good for beginners who want to get an understanding of Etsy quickly and all in one place, even though you can find the info online eventually. And I saw Steve Weber has just published one called Etsy 101. I've read his other books and they are very good, so I may order that one.

Re: Anyone read any Etsy books?

I bought these two books on sale online:
How to Sell Your Crafts Online: A Step-by-Step Guide to Successful Sales on Etsy and Beyond
Craft Inc.: Turn Your Creative Hobby into a Business

So far I've highlighted a few things in Craft Inc..but haven't found it very useful..though I need to finish it before I can say that. I've browsed through How to Sell but haven't had time to read it through..but it doesn't look like it's going to help.

I'm hoping to get my hands on a secondhand copy of Handmade Marketplace by Kari Chapin.

I'm not against giving these types of books a shot. I've got just a bad attention span for how-to books and tend to learn better hands on, than by reading. (In school I did better when we physically did what we were learning, like woodwork, applied technology, sewing, etc).
