Another shop name problem

I have had my shop name for almost 5 years and never opened my shop. Since then I not only make items for dogs and kids but also aprons for adult women. I opened my shop about two weeks ago and I think my business will be crippled. How do I let the public know that I have added adult aprons without changing my name? (I have sold at shows for the past 5 years with this name with no pbs because my customers can SEE the adult aprons.) Since I have this following, I do not want to change my name. HELP!!!

Thanks!.......Kathleen

Re: Another shop name problem

If people are searching on Etsy for women's aprons, I don't think the shop name will turn them away, especially if it's clear from the listing's title that it is a woman's apron.

Re: Another shop name problem

I looked at your shop again, and I see that the aprons are a large percentage of your stock. Hmm.... Could you add something to your shop name, like "NMOMS", or "NMORE"? If you open a second shop for the aprons, you could put a note in the shop announcement of your currrent shop, directing customers to go to the new shop to find your aprons.

IMO the shop name, banner, icon, shop description and shop by line should reflect what your are making and selling. 4DogsNMore wouldn't be much of a departure from what you now have, but would reflect your items.

Love your work!
good luck!

Why wouldn't they?

Remember you can only change your shop name once!

Re: Another shop name problem

Hi there, you can open another store, especially if you think of expanding your products! Think wisely of a name :)
For now though, I'd advise to change your shop announcement as the current one doesn't reflect a new exciting addition of the fab aprons! :)
Good luck!

Re: Another shop name problem

I have recently added a new name (as a featured collection) to my banner & individual item descriptions. I'm hoping to transition my shop & branding to this new name eventually. It is a better reflection of my product line. However, in the meantime I'm trying to link the names & build all my new branding around the new name. I have also created a "page" on my facebook completely devoted to the new name. Time will tell.

Re: Another shop name problem

While there is definitely merit and benefits in having a shop name reflective of what you sell, as someone whose shop name has nothing to do with what she sells, I tend to be of the opinion that if people are searching for aprons, they will land in your shop and see that you sell aprons. If you would be more comfortable changing your shop name though, then do so. I would definitely change the description under the banner though to something more simple, literal, and direct: "Hand-sewn aprons, pet apparel, and children's clothes" or something like that. Having specific keywords in your announcement should help you get found on google as well. Best of luck!

Re: Another shop name problem

I actually took your shop name to mean that you have 4 dogs and kids, lol. =D Not that you sell items for dogs and kids.

I think your shop name will work okay, but like others have said, your banner and the description below need to show what you sell.
