Am I missing something?

I have a new shop, and I've been actively uploading items for about a month or so now. I'm connected with Twitter and Facebook, and post links each time I upload a new item. I've created a few Treasuries and am working on creating a blog as well. I'm also getting ready to launch a new store for the non-jewelry items that I make. I have about 30 items listed now, and am steadily working on uploading two new items a day until Christmas (that's the goal anyway).

And yet, no sales, and not a whole lot of traffic to my site. I'm participating in the Holiday Bootcamp and have a great bootcamp buddy who has given me a few tips and things to try (which has been awesome, thank you SimplyCherise!).

I could use more critiques on my site (photos? descriptions? backgrounds? layout? suggestions?)

Thanks!

Re: Am I missing something?

I have been on etsy for a few years and only have a few direct sales. It takes time.

Re: Am I missing something?

it really takes time

I've only had two sales so far, and from everything I've read and heard, the trick is to keep trying, to be patient and to keep on building a brand and more products

Re: Am I missing something?

I'm not seeing any sales here either, and am by no means an expert Etsian, but her's what I see right off the bat that could help you...
Some of your backgrounds too closely match the colors in the jewelry...making the details hard to see clearly. For instance:

Listing often and building inventory are great. You're doing the right things as far as networking, so time is probably the key. Good luck and don't give up!

Re: Am I missing something?

Here's what I noticed.

When it comes to jewelry people are attracted to extreme close ups.
For example, this girl I found, I fell in love with her stuff
http://www.etsy.com/listing/62446458/lucky-in-turquoise-gold-cluster-earrings
When you look around her shop you will see that she takes:
1. extreme close ups.
2. Items are on white or something like rocks, slate, pottery. Very natural
3. She uses natural light (and then she lightens up with a photo editor), but also keeping the softness in.
4. Most of the time she also shows the piece on someone, so you can see where it falls and how big it is.

I haven't bought much on etsy, but I definitely ordered from her shop!
Good luck!

Re: Am I missing something?

Thanks for the photo tips Sara. Photography is definitely one area I'm working on, and constantly trying to improve. I want something unique for the background, but don't want to detract from the item. I've been thinking maybe a charcoal gray slate, or sand (since I'll have quite a few beach-inspired items posting soon).

Re: Am I missing something?

definitely! get yourself some natural light. Get a piece of drift wood (or just any old wood) use that as a "raiser" for some of your pieces, just close up. The roughness of the wood will enhance the smoothness of some of your pieces.

Good luck! look forward to see what you come up with.
