I've been off work due to the hurricane. (No damage here) And I decided to use the time off to organize my craft area. I am not the most organized person (understatement of the century) and my husband has been nagging me about keeping my area neat.
I'm working out of my dinning room and my supplies are overflowing. Most of the time I don't know what I have.
So yesterday I spend the entire day going through my supplies and setting up an inventory tracker. I'm so excited. I have all my fabrics saved in the system. I assigned bar codes so when I run out of each I can scan it and it'll tell me where I purchased it from and for how much. This is awesome since I order from all over the place. I'm hoping it'll also help me determine a more accurate cost to make each item.
My husband thinks I'm a dork for being so excited but I can't help it.
I love it, great job! I love that you instituted a bar code system that seems like it will save so much time and be way more accurate in the accounting department!
Organization is definitely not dorky - those who think it is should reexamine the mess in their lives and see if it would not help them out!
I order my yarn from 4 or 5 different places and I can never remember where I got a certain skein. I really like your yarn inventory management system, that is so cool, I should do the same!
You can't win with men, can you? You're not organized, they complain. You get organized and are excited about it, and they roll their eyes. I've got one of those, too. :P:P

my husband would probably institute the barcode for me if he thought it would get me more organized :lol: if i repeated anything other than a few basics i'd try it myself!
That's awesome! I just finished a ton of organizing myself (including giving each listing a code so I can find it easily when someone buys) but I'm not stuck inside because of the hurricane. Now I get to make my area cute and fun! YAY!
That is AWESOME! I love organization and my craft supplies are out of control right now. I was also home the past 2 days due to the Hurricane (all is well here also), I made some new items, but really should have organized. My dining room and spare bedroom are a mess with my wreaths and craft supplies. I need to take a week vacation from work to face the chaos. Congrats on your accomplishment!!
