Advice please on shipping multiple items!

Hi there everyone!
I'm brand new here -- I just opened yesterday.

I have a question about shipping multiple items from a single order.
For example: a person ordered two things from me, and now etsy is asking me to ship two packages + it charged full shipping on both.
(I use shipping profiles and calculated shipping for all my products.)
So now the person paid about 12 dollars extra on shipping they didn't need to pay since I'll be packaging the items together.

Is there a way to make it so if someone orders more than one item, etsy knows to put them in one package instead of individual ones? And also not charge so much. I don't like the idea of having to manually refund for shipping overages each time if it's something I can avoid.

On your shipping profile, there is an option to charge additional shipping cost for each additional item. My shipping cost for one item may be $3, if they add an additional item they are only charged $2 for that item. I hope this helps.

Sorry, but I'm not seeing any option like that in the shipping profile.
I attach shipping profiles for the product which negates my ability to add discounts for + items.
Should I instead manually put the cost of shipping on each product or is there another loophole I'm missing that would allow me to keep calculated shipping?

I have my shipping profile set up just like yours, with calculated shipping and then I have a handling fee added on. I have only had one order with multiple items, and it seemed to calculate it correctly. However, I read on another team that Etsy has been having problems with shipping calculations the last couple of days. One woman had an order come up with shipping costing something like $85 for a dozen towels! She ended up losing the customer because she couldn't get it figured out quickly enough. I am going to test your site and see what happens if I put multiple items in my cart, just so you know what is going on.

Well, I tried to test your site but every item I selected said it had free shipping ... so I wasn't able to see what happened if I tried to order more than one item. Do you have some items that do not have free shipping that I can try?

Sorry Janet. I have free shipping in the USA, so my issue is international sales only. Thank you so much for your time and answer though.
Maybe I'll have to contact etsy directly about this issue then.

Did you ever get an answer to this? I just had the same issue. A buyer purchased two of the same item which I used calculated shipping for and it tried to make me purchase two separate labels.
I use flat rate shipping for some items, and there's a field for an additional shipping cost on those but there isn't anything like that for the calculated shipping profiles.
I'm probably going to purchase a label direct from USPS, because I can't find a work-around in the Etsy shipping system. :-(

Did they buy them in 2 separate transactions? I've had that happen. I buy the shipping label thru one of the orders only. You can refund the overcharge of shipping thru the manage order link or thru paypal. I mark both orders as shipped. Notify the buyer that you are shipping them together.
