Re: Advice needed please :)

I'm probably not much help since I don't know much about jewelry, but I think you should include it in your descriptions at least. People will want to know what your items are made out of if they're thinking about buying them.

I would keep it up and let customers know. Your work speaks for itself -your jewelry is awesome (I love your love necklace!) and don't think it would deter someone from buying.

Re: Advice needed please :)

Shrink plastic makes me think of shrinky dinks, so I guess I can see where people worry that it sounds cheap.

You could tag them with "shrink plastic", but just refer to them as artist illustrated plastic in the title if you are worried about the connotation.

Re: Advice needed please :)

Shrink Plastic probably isn't a big search term so there is no reason to have it in your title (at least from an SEO standpoint, double check your stats to make sure a lot of people aren't actually searching for it). I'd use the title to describe the individual items / style using words that you would search to find it. IE:

"Rabbit earring, shrink plastic stud, illustrated rabbit head"
...could be...
"Rabbit earring, hand illustrated rabbit head, stud back"

Or something like that. I don't SEO to jewelry ever, so I don't really know common terms people would use to search ("rabbit earring" actually returns a decent number of results, more than I initially thought).

As for "Shrink Plastic" sounding cheap, nah. Just don't call it "Shrinky Dinks". Like Amanda said, definitely describe the process, I remember from my childhood it is actually pretty awesome (and fun to watch)!

Re: Advice needed please :)

Hi, Amy:

I think I've weighed in on things with you before because I remember loving your shop. I'm of a slightly different opinion. I do think "shrink plastic" conjures up a certain cheap image in people's minds. It does in mine, and your jewelry isn't at all cheap looking. Is there another term that could be substituted and wouldn't have a slightly negative (and unfair) connotation?

Be creative. Think out side the box. You can always explain it in your item text.

Love your shop!

Re: Advice needed please :)

What are shrinky dinks I've never heard of it :), i tag them with shrink plastic at the minuet. I don't want people to think they are cheap when they are not, they take so long to make and get right.

Re: Advice needed please :)

Shrinky dinks are a product marketed (mostly) to children. Images come printed on plastic. The kids color them in, then bake them in the oven and watch them shrink.

Re: Advice needed please :)

Yup! We used to have them when I was a kid. I know my mom still uses the "adult" version in craft projects (just blanks) which I am sure is what you use. But I instantly thought of "shrinky dinks" when I saw "shrink plastic". Perhaps you could use "miniaturized illustration" or something like that?

Re: Advice needed please :)

I don't know what shrink plastic is and I would never use it as a search word for jewelry, so why bother use it anyways in your titles/tags?

Re: Advice needed please :)

Have you seen actual searches go through for "shrink plastic"? It does come up in Etsy's search recommendations for jewelry, but I too question whether or not that is an actual term people use?

Re: Advice needed please :)

Then keep it in the title for sure! As well as tag and description. Just be sure to maintain emphasis on the process and the hand illustrated points.
