Advice for small NGO

Hello everyone, I am volunteering for a small Indian NGO working for women empowerment. We have a boutique in Jodhpur where we sell products crafted by women we helped. We recently launched our Etsy boutique, hoping that it would enbale us to gain more orders for our seamstresses. I was hoping you could give us some advices about our Etsy shop : do you like what is looks like ? Which products do you like ? Are they some you would never buy ?
All this is very new to us, especially because the products we sell the most in our boutique in India might not be the ones Etsy people are looking for.

And also, we are always looking for volunteers that would like to come and help deprived women by teaching them English, Maths, Sewing, IT... If you are interested or know someone that would be, we'd love to have you staying with us !

Many thanks to all of you wonderful people :)

Hi!

I love your shop. I also love your NGO's initiative.

I would love to feature you on my blog. Please visit http://www.raquelmanuela.com/blog-submission-guidelines/ for more information.

By the way, I also wanted to say that these photos are great:

https://www.etsy.com/listing/214637172/cotton-oxen-holy-cows?ref=listing-shop-header-2

I would stay away from photo's like these where the product gets lost because the background is so busy:

https://www.etsy.com/listing/214760425/silk-toiletry-bag-small-and-large-sizes?ref=shop_home_active_...

Also, I would include item descriptions, like materials and dimensions.

I hope this helps. Please feel free to contact me. :)

The shop looks great!

Remember - the more items you add, the bigger chance to be found and gain popularity.

Also check out the seller's handbook:

You have made a great start. But you need to fill up your shop. Not many people stop by a store that only has 12 items for sale.... etsy is the same. You can't get found on etsy with only a few items.

One way to increase your number of listings is to add an individual listing for each different item color. For example, you list a cute stuffed camel in about 8 colors. Make that into 8 different listings. You can now modify the titles to all be slightly different...and change some of your tags. Make listings with multiple stuffed animals. Can you have a listing with a small and large camel? or a set of 3 different color coordinated animals?

Be thorough in you item descriptions. Size, material, fill material, care instructions. For example, can your cosmetic bags be cleaned/washed? Are they lined and if so, with what (may want to consider adding a picture looking into the bag so the customer can see the finished seams, contrasting lining, if any, etc).

To give your shop a cohesive look, you might consider taking all of your pictures with a similar background (or at least the first picture in the listing). I love some of your pictures in the India countryside. You could have quite a unique shop if you played upon this. Why not take all of your items to where you took the Oli elephant picture? The pictures would be quite distinctive and take advantage of your culture.

You may want to revisit your prices. Here in the US I know that a hand made stuffed animal would cost more...

Examine a few successful etsy shops selling similar items and see if there is anything you can learn from them.

All the best!
