Advice Please

Hi all, I wonder if you can help?

I made a long Poppy Necklace which also converts into a Headchain yesterday with genuine South Sea Shell Pearls ( each of my flowers are made by me petal by petal using polymer clay)

The problem I have is what I should charge for it :-/ I've made unique items before that have been loved but never seem to sell

I've added the links to my facebook fan page simply because I haven't added to Etsy yet until I can work out what to charge for it. I know the formula that is normally used but concerned if I use that I would never sell it :-/

I would just like to get an idea from a larger audience to see what they would be willing to pay if ever looking for something like it

Your advice is appreciated on this as I am really stuck, lol. Here are the links:

Thanks all

Re: Advice Please

I cant advise about your exact item but let me share one of mine. I have a hat in my shop that requires 19 individual pieces be sewn on after that hat is crocheted. Each piece is crocheted then attached. It is very labor intensive so I had to mark the hat up further than any of my other hats.I thought for sure I would not sell any of the hats at this price but I have, it has gone on to be one of the most successful items in my shop.
I wrote in the description about each piece being individually attached and I think that has helped with the sale of each hat. :)

Re: Advice Please

Thanks for your comments Natasha and can I just say your shop is lovely. I especially love the wraps that you make and can see the work put into your shop

I've always had a price with pricing because even though I would like it to be affordable I too need to look at not only the cost of the materials but the time and electicity used etc to create the peice

I'm still not the wiser on what to price it at, lol

Re: Advice Please

If the item is worth a certain price, then stick with that price!
Don't lower it to increase chances of it selling (unless perhaps you are desperate for some quick cash).
Instead, work on your marketing!
Make sure that buyers that are both willing and able to buy that item can find it.
Don't bring the price to the customers, but bring the right customers to the price!

Re: Advice Please

Thanks BeaG

I'm making more daytime creations now to aim towards most of my fans but like to create something a bit more special every once in a while which is what this creation is about

I've had loads of people liking it already but concerned that this creations could be sat in my shop like many higher priced creations for a very long time

I'll do a bit more research before I add it, I want to be fair with my prices but also be able to make a little profit etc to keep my business going

I'm already marketing not only on facebook but also Twitter, Pinterest and very occassionally Wanelo and will continue to do so in the hope my work will one day be seen by the right customer who is more then willing to pay for a detailed creation that I have worked very hard at (like many of us :-) )
