Advice Please!

Hi,

I really would appreciate it if people could help critque my shop! I havent had many sales; not sure if its because of prices, descriptions, photos, or just because they look too handmade and noone likes them? Any suggestions or advice would be great! Thanks!

Re: Advice Please!

I'd say your store seems like its doing well. You have many admirers and a good amount of sales as well. Maybe to boost up sales you can start advertising on social media more. But your store is great, the items are cute, tags are appropriate, and the prices are set fair.

Re: Advice Please!

Hi Lauren,

Your items are really pretty.

If you plan for your shop to be a growing business then you're doing the right thing in asking for feedback. However successful a shop is, there's always room for improvement.

The first thing that struck me was your photos, they are a little blurry and some are quite dark (like the magnetic pegs). Have a browse of other product photography on the internet and make a to do list for things you can try. Look at shops you admire and think about how they display their wares.

SEO is really important, your tags are only 1 word, try to think of search terms. I noticed for example that one of your tags is 'housewares', but nobody will just search for that on its own. Put yourself in the mindset of a buyer, what would you type into the search bar? There are loads of articles and tips on SEO to gradually work through.

Descriptions - They seem a little brief. It's hard sometimes to think of things to write but I think you need more there. Do all buyers know what deco patch is or could you explain your techniques? Any inspiration behind the selected colours/patterns? Would you describe it as upcycled?

Hope that helps a bit anyway.

Wendy

Re: Advice Please!

I agree with the above posters--your shop looks great and you seem to be doing well with sales!

And yes, your items are very cute but your photos don't show them off as much as they could. I always recommend not using flash. Instead, finding a natural light source like a table near window (they had indirect sunlight, because direct sunlight will take away from photos just like flash and create distracting shadows).

I personally take my photos outdoors in a shadowed area or on a cloudy day. Then, I brighten them and tweak contrast and saturation as I see fit. Brightness is very important! Etsy's top sellers have crisp, bright photos and that's because they really appeal to customers.

Lovely shop! I wish you luck :)
