Accidentaly used wrong date on shipping label!

I was just printing my shipping labels for the orders I just received and I noticed I marked it as shipping today instead of tomorrow!

Now on the shipping label is says the 18th instead of the 19th. Is that ok? What should I do?

It does matter and the PO might return it to you. Happened a few times to me recently. You can always request a refund on the label and print a new one.

Re: Accidentaly used wrong date on shipping label!

Hmmmmmm Amanda, sorry, but I agree with Madelyn. If you have had things returned to you, your post office is very strict.

I have had the night before date on my packages many times and have never had it returned. It does throw off the tracking a bit which isn't good and I do need to be more careful. The customer will also be notified the item has been shipped when it really hasn't, which isn't good. But as for being refused by the post office.........I've never had that happen. You have paid for the postage and the shipment..........they push it through. If dates of shipping became an issue, they are able to prove through their scans that it actually wasn't received by them until the following day.

Thank you!!! Haha! I have had on a holiday print it up, and then realize 'oh! The mail doesn't run today!' and still go and dropped it in the blue box, everything works out fine!!!

Re: Accidentaly used wrong date on shipping label!

3 this week actually, printed for Monday. Shipped on Tuesday. My mistake. Maybe they are strict but I got all 3 packages back with a note saying "mailed on wrong date" and the PO told me they will not take them. Not the first time either. I'd rather get the postage refund and print new than deal with that.

Re: Accidentaly used wrong date on shipping label!

Thank you everyone! What do you suggest? Do I just send it as it is or ask for a refund?

Re: Accidentaly used wrong date on shipping label!

I have sent a number of packages with the wrong ship date with no problem at all. I would go ahead and ship.

I also do it way too often, forget to check the box saying it won't got out until the next day, and have never had a problem. It must just depend on the post office.

Ashley, you'll just have to decide for yourself I guess whether to try it or not. I've never had a problem with it as others have also said, but Amanda has had issues.

If timing of the shipment is an issue and you have a great enough concern, maybe redo it and be at peace about it.

It's up to you.

Re: Accidentaly used wrong date on shipping label!

I wanted to chime in too, that I've done that a bunch and never had an issue. I was told that the dates don't really matter if their scanned and shipped within a few days of the date on the label.

Re: Accidentaly used wrong date on shipping label!

I have shipped over 3000 items through Etsy, I print out the mailing labels when I'm done making the product and stick them in a bag by my mailbox for my postal carrier. Sometimes they're printed out after she's already picked up the mail, so they my mail carrier picks them up the following business day (If I print on Saturday, that's Monday). Sometimes I have a lazy mail carrier and they elect not to take the packages waiting for them, so they can sit for an extra day. - then I usually take them in to my local PO, still not a problem.

I have not once, ever, had a challenge. Not ever, never! In fact, before reading this thread it never once occurred to me that the date 'shipped' on the package meant anything to the USPS.

I would encourage you to send your package with your postage paid in full.
