Accepting Gift Cards and Credit Cards

Hey Everyone

I just enabled Gift Cards and Credit Cards to my shop before Christmas and I had a sale with a credit card. I'm just wondering where that money goes? Is it deposited in my bank account? I'd like to issue a refund to the buyer for over charging for shipping and can't figure out how to do it since I can't find the payment.

Re: Accepting Gift Cards and Credit Cards

Hi Angel. Etsy holds the payment for a while, then deposits it to your bank account. The link for processing a refund is tricky to find. If you go to the transaction in "orders" you can click on the tab "receipt" (next to the shipping tab). From there, there is a link "manage order" on the right side of the page about where the receipt tab was. Clicking on that will take you to a menu allowing you to process refunds.

Re: Accepting Gift Cards and Credit Cards

I would strongly suggest that you read the section "Getting Paid with and Managing Direct Checkout" so that you understand how Etsy's Direct checkout works.

And until you understand how the process works, I would suggest that you temporarily disable DC.
