A view is a view

We all know this but, we have to admit that we are embarrassed about some of the views that we have received. In example, yesterday I got a view in my shop for someone typing in necklace, spelled NECKALCE! One of my items was spelled wrong in the tittle so I got found. Oh, I'm sure I am not the only one something like this has happened to so feel free to share your story!

Re: A view is a view

I got found because I misspelled ''silver'' as ''siver'' in a title. It is in my shop name, how could I miss that one!

Re: A view is a view

I'm not good at spelling at all, but getting found by a typo is not good. I mean, there is worse things you can be found by but still.

Re: A view is a view

I make all kinds of typos because I type fast, but my brain is already moving beyond what I'm typing. Sometimes I look at a word after I'm sure I've typed it correctly and laugh. How could I have gotten it so wrong? One finger was faster than another, and the letters are transposed.

This being human is quite a ride, huh?

Yep! I finally learned how to spell silhouette, some of my tags had an extra "L" in them :p

Re: A view is a view

When my website consultant was creating my site for my landscape architecture business she actually included misspelled keywords for SEO...it's a fairly common practice in that SEO world.

Re: A view is a view

lol, that's funny! I think it makes total sense to include common mistakes, and you surely won't have as many people competing for attention in the search results! I'd consider it on purpose in a tag--not in a title or description, though. My main bugaboo is spelling "camouflage." (I have a shop on another site where it's relevant for a lot of my husband's listings.) I think I've finally got it down, though!

Re: A view is a view

Wow, that is too funny! OK, this is actually an enhancement request for Etsy regarding how their search algorithm works. If you think about it, we are missing out on this misspelled search traffic by not having common misspellings of our products in our titles. Here's another example, if you search "birthday invatations", you'll get the results with people who have that incorrect spelling in their titles!

Re: A view is a view

Jennie, when I types in neckalces to see how many people made the same mistake I did, there where some 90 pages! I was shocked! I laughed so hard, but was happy I wasn't alone. I make spelling mistakes ALL the time! It is soo frustrating but hey, what can I do?

Re: A view is a view

One person was selling a stamp that had Etsy on the stamp and the title...they spelled it wrong on their product listing's title...considering it was a stamp that had Etsy spelled correctly on the stamp you would think they would want it spelled right in their title.

I convo'd them to let them know their error nicely figuring hey maybe it would help bring them more sales and they would want to know it was spelled wrong.

They never fixed it and never acknowledged my request.

Funny thing is that I was planning on buying that stamp but since they never fixed it or replied back to me I figured they must not care about their business enough to take pride in their product so I passed.

Re: A view is a view

It happens to all of us. I go back every once in a while and reread posts to double check myself. I did this the other night and realized that I had described a coat as "soft to the tough". I don't think anyone wants to wear a coat that is "soft to the tough"!
