A thought on pricing....

Hi all! So I am new to Etsy, though I have been an artist for years. I can't get to sleep so I thought I'd come and chat...

I have made an observation, and I'd like to see what you all think...I've noticed coastal artists (west coast/east coast) seem to price their items a little higher. Just a thought...you may want to consider prices are different throughout the country. For instance, in Boston or LA you might pay $25.00 for a pair of earrings I could buy for $15.00 in the Midwest. How about a happy medium of $20? Just a thought....feedback anyone?

Re: A thought on pricing....

I gets even worse country to country. Out here in Australia a shop will charge roughly double what I would pay from a similar store in the US. And I'm talking brick-and-mortar stores in the mall. This makes it hard for me as what I think is a very reasonable local price seems very high to Americans. Europe seems to be more expensive than the US as well, but is higher or lower than here depending on the product.

I've often wondered if I'm charging enough, but then I see American sellers want much less than I'm asking. And the local market just isn't large enough.

Re: A thought on pricing....

I haven't noticed this.

I'm on the west coast and I think my prices are pretty reasonable.

That's exactly what I mean punqd! I have friends in Europe in the same boat...but you seem to be having good sales and I picked a favorite on your site :o)

AlmondCrafts...your prices ARE reasonable...especially for your quilled items! I used to quill and know! However, I was talking specifically about jewelry and I've noticed it in some other items. I just think in general people tend to price things according to their own area and it might be good to consider the country/world! when pricing :o)
