A freshman is wondering...

Hello everyone! I am Konstantinos, i make silver jewelry and i opened my Etsyshop last December.
I am thrilled about the creative spirit around Etsy and i realise that is very difficult to sell with all this competition. I read the guidelines and try to do my best for improving my shop.
I want to ask you (hope that it is not such a cliche): how long have you waited to see your first sale?
Thank you all, wish good luck for everyone. If you have any suggestions for me, my ears and my eyes are wide open to hear and see!

Hi Konstantinos!
First, Welcome to Etsy - your Shop is lovely, great photos. It is not unusual that you do not have sales yet, it does take time and first sale is different for everyone. Here's some hints since it is extremely important that your seo will get you found in customer searches.

Google searches look at your titles and descriptions.
Therefore, your first sentence of your description should repeat what your item is as in your title - you can rearrange the title words around and add more words - it does not have to be a gramatically correct sentence, just use important item keywords. Then go to explain your lovely item.

Etsy searches look at your titles and tags.

So you are found by your titles, tags, and descriptions. If you were a buyer looking for items like yours, what would you type into your search? Ask some friends - family what they would search for - it is amazing how we all think differently.

For example - I might look for "silver pendant, silver necklace, pendant on cord, heart jewelry, heart necklace, Tolkein jewelry, Hobbit jewelry....

Feel free to ask away!!

Re: A freshman is wondering...

I opened exactly 3 weeks ago, and this week I was graced with my first [THREE] orders! There is an app on etsy called shoptimizer - it grades your shop! I got an 'F' on something, changed it, and made two orders within an hour! I definitely suggest trying that! Keep adding, keep evolving, and never stop marketing! Goodluck! :)

You need to promote your jewelry, you can't really just on Etsy views. You have a very fresh young line that will easily get editorial. Promote to fashion blogs that are read by the age you are targeting. You have to pull customers in, not wait for them to come to you.

Konstantinos:

Patricia is right that you have a lovely shop already, and that is a great way to start. So many shops have to start all over again with their photos before they begin to get views. You've done yours well from the beginning.

Also, your jewellry is unusual, different from the mainstream we see her in the US, and somewhat exotic so that should also help you to be noticed in the crowds of jewelry designers.

In addition to the things that have been suggested, you would help your shop considerably by joining some of the more active promotion teams on Etsy. Your work is just right for treasuries, so one of those or more ought to be a treasury making team. This way, other sellers will help you get "out there" where your work can be seen.

And make some Etsy friends along the way who will help you by favoriting your items on a regular basis while you do the same for them. This is how Etsians help each other sell their work. I call it "good Etsy karma;" others have other names, but it's shop owners helping shop owners be seen in the worldwide marketplace.

I have hearted (favorited) some of your items today as a welcome to a new Etsy seller. I'll come back and do that again in a few days. If you return the favor, then you already have a headstart on that circle of people who will help you along!

Best of luck! Lovely work!

Thank you Meredith! Your words are very encouraging for me (I never thought that my jewelry is unusal or exotic for the US:)))
You gave me very useful advice.
You have a lovely shop and a very creative colorful work.

I will take everything in consideration especially this one with the treasury teams.

Blessings

Konstantinos
