600+ viewers a day?!

It grabs my attention seeing other etsians mention getting 500+ viewers a day. With a lot of promotions both inside and outside Etsy I can barely get 200 viewers every day. One thing I am sure of is the time difference in each country. But other than that I don't know what can be the possible reason I'm not getting many viewers.

Is it really possible to get 600+ viewers daily with normal promotions in different social media websites? Or do I have to pay for ads to get many viewers each day?

Also, I really hope someone who is specialized in digital scrapbook paper goods to help me out in answering the above question. I notice that such shops get about 1300 viewers on their items when they're listed. I'm not sure how this works out but I really wish someone will enlighten me.

I cant help you with getting high views ( I wish I could!) but when an items appears new but has high viewings, my guess is that it has actually been renewed so kept all the previous views, hearts etc

I think 200 views a day is very good- well done you must be doing something right.

The 1300 views on a newly listed item will be a renewed item. Most likely an item that has sold and been renewed. The views just add up. I have some regular sellers with thousands of views. Each time they sell they get renewed, they appear as being just listed with thousands of views. I remember seeing this when I was new to etsy and wondering how it was possible!

The 600 views a day is definitely possible. I have had periods with this many views, when I was listing new items and being more active.
I think SEO and getting found by google is of key importance. At the minute I am doing zero promoting and adding no new items (I had a baby 3 months ago, and have done nothing to my shop since), but I am still getting a few hundred views most days, and regular sales. I honestly believe it's SEO and the fact I get a lot of views from google etc. I know I could do better if I spent more time on my shop, but it's just not important right now. I am happy with it just ticking over.

Are you talking about views per item or stat views for your shop a day. Because I am also wondering how some shops get well over 700 a day. I know the tag and title thing. But when someone tells me what there average views are per day and they are high I go that shop to look at there tags and titles and I don't see anything different then mine. So I'm lost also!

I average about 800-1,000 views a day, which has become the norm for my shop. And that's my stat views.. What I've been doing different is tags, and titles. I've changed a lot of the way I word my product. I started thinking about how a buyer might be searching Etsy and how certain key words and phrases might boost my views & sales. I don't pay for any ads or advertising. The one thing I do is work with every social media outlet to promote & advertise without being a social media nuisance and you could apply this to any business not just jewelry, which is what I make. But in all that I've certainly seen a difference since changing my titles and tags.

How long did it take you to get that many average views, Francis? Right now I just started out, so I don't have much. On your social media, how do you gain fans/followers/etc that actually want to follow you?

I think you are doing fine with 200 views so far, I wasn't even close, in my first year. If you think about any business and how it's cliental has to grow. It comes with time. People forget that most successful business did not "make it" overnight. Patience is a great tool, If you use it it can help you.

Yes it is totally possible. And you don't have to use social media if you don't want to.

I average between 800 - 1200 views during the winter and between 700 - 900 views during the summer months.

I have a newsletter that gets sent out every couple of months. I post a few tweets each day, but spend most of my twitter time chatting with people.

I'll pin maybe 10 items each week on various Pinterest boards.

Other than that, I simply make sure that I have titles written so that a buyer can find my shop from outside of Etsy.

More than 40% of my views and 70% of my sales come from outside of Etsy

Well, I've been building my brand since 2007, and I didn't join Etsy until 2010... It took a while to hit those big numbers. This is my full time job or I should say this is my career. Gaining followers and fans takes a couple of years. when posting to Instagram, Facebook, twitter... Etc. I don't just talk about my line. I talk about my life, and I let them know there is an actual person behind all this. I keep them interested in what I have to say by becoming a personality. Just being myself. I also do a lot of collaborations with up and coming bloggers, singer songwriters, and actors. I participate in a lot local and non local craft fairs and events. It's really a 24/7 thing for me, answering emails at 3am or working the entire night. I would start out with bloggers and hosting giveaways, sponsorships with bloggers, and models, youtubers, doing mini interviews, startling your own blog and just putting yourself out there. People will start to become interested and actually care about what you have to say.

Pay attention to how you are getting views, I make view goals every month because it pushes me to promote and try new things. My first month I had an average of 50 views a day, and my goal was 50 more each month. I'm currently aiming for 300, as last month I ended at 257 a day. But I pay attention to where views are coming from and spend more time promoting there and less time promoting where I don't get views. It's definitely possible to get hundreds or thousands of views a day with lots of work, and time put into promoting. Pay careful attention and work smarter not harder! ;)

That's my average, though has been dropping somewhat.

I'm surprised to see many replies for my question and I'm happy about that. I completely understand that the SEO is important but I didn't know that having the right SEO helps gain that many viewers a day. I noticed that my items appear in search both inside and outside Etsy almost daily and that's good but most o the search is from inside Etsy. That means that my items are not appearing a lot in the other search engines. I am trying something new with the titles and tags and just hope it works.

You really are off to a great start. Your shop is well stocked and you have a lot of people favoring your shop.
I sell digital items as well and I started with only about 4 items and I am building it up slowly. I am getting about 200-300 views a day at the moment. I have not yet started using any social networking tools but I am in the process of creating content for a blog which will have a focus on paper craft and design which hopefully will generate more traffic and sales. I think the trick is to try different things. Maybe buy some search ads for a couple off weeks and see if there is any change. Or write to bloggers to get featured.
I read in a forum once that one seller specialising in digital scrapbook paper spent a lot of money on advertising. The made a lot of sales but you need to weigh up weather that is worth it as your profit will be down with the amount of money you spend.
Also the time difference doesn't make any difference to views. I am in New Zealand and the amount of views varies a lot through out the day and night. Its a good feeling when i wake up in the morning and I have made sales over night! :)
I think you just need to keep working hard and start focusing on marketing. You will do great!

@Emily: You don't know how much your words delighted me. I'm really happy you find my shop well stocked.

About the ads, I read sometimes other people posting about their experience with buying ads saying that they're not very worth it. I really wish to try them for a week to see the difference but I don't wish to spend money on a tool that is not guaranteed.

I don't know about the time in New Zealand but I just had such a thought that maybe the time difference has an effect.


I'll start promoting more on Etsy than outside starting tomorrow to notice the difference and I might start thinking about the ads.

Also, are you using the new digital download Etsy has recently introduced? You can up load your digital files when you create your listing so you don't have to use any external site for it.

yeah, i just started to pay attention to seo too. for a couple of years my views have been awfully low. 200 is still not bad at all though. let's try harder together!

I agree with joartyjo. SEO is huge! I knew nothing about it when I started but used Cathy with her Etsy shop EurekaGuides and did a full shop analysis with her. She's actually really hard on you so if you try it out- put on tough skin. I actually cried thru one part of my review.. If you look back in my shop- you can see where I started implementing her advice. (Beginning of this year)

I would be so extatic if I had 200 views per day. I'm happy if I get 50 views. My views tend to go up if I post something on StumbleUpon. I guess there are tons of people on that site at all times and when something new pops up it gets clicked on. Unfortunately, I cannot say that any of those views turn into sales.

So, I know views does not equal sales but I sure would love to have 200 views every day.

Most views I have ever had was 176 --- boy that was exciting - I don't even know what caused it --- ayway if I make 50 views - I call that improvement - last week I had one day with 12 views ---- anyway this was interesting reading - and it looks like I have a lot of work to do....my 1 anniversary is comming up..........

Maybe it is more diffiuclt for vintage, I do not know.

I do find views go up when I'm more active on Etsy or lst new items, but I'm still nowhere near the numbers you are all taking about. Very impressed!

Views seems to decline these two days. I'm not sure why, but I'm depending more on Etsy for traffic and I'm barely reaching 100!
