Tips for photography,please?

Hello!

I opened my Etsy shop a couple months ago, and am currently taking pictures of my items on a white sheet of paper. I use a smartphone/iphone to take pictures, and that is what I have access to at the moment. Does anyone find something wrong with how I am taking my pictures, or anything I should use instead of a sheet of paper? I am a bit doubtful and want the background to have a bright, clean look. I understand that some people use Photoshop to edit their pictures, but I only have access to Gimp. (Gimp and Photoshop are both photo-editing softwares.) Does anybody have any tips on taking pictures, and could I please have feedback on my photography? Thank you for taking the time to read this, and good luck, everybody else who is wondering the same. (I hope I didn't write too much... D: )

Hello there!
You have some good photos with your smartphone!
I have a blog and it talks about the basics of taking photos, But It seems like you know what are doing!
This photo editor is great! --> http://fotofuze.com/ (you can sign in with etsy)
There is another way you can take photos, The white sheets are still good,
butt

Picture with the box is how most etsy sellers take there photos with... You can just crop out the Box and get the main item, And there are alot of angles you can do it from, If you use the box method

Here is some examples

It doesn't have to be so complex, But just something simple So you can take the photo with different angles

I like the way you present your items in different scenes and I could barely tell that you were using such simple tools. I do suggest showing different angles of your item. I noticed you often showed only the fronts of your items, perhaps a shot of the back or side will give shoppers a more clear idea of the item they may buy.

Re: Tips for photography,please?

Hi Nicole,
I can see what you mean! I actually have a couple boxes I can use for this method, so I will probably use it. :D And this photo-editor seems very believable, and the examples show exactly what I wanted, thank you! When I get a chance to download the app, I will try it out.Thank you for your feedback!

Hi Iris,
I agree with you. I felt like I wasn't showing much difference between my pictures, and realized I wasn't really impressed with any item with only one picture, either. I will start doing that, because I feel like in a customer's perspective I would want to know everything about the item before purchasing. c: Thank you for your feedback!
