store policies

Hey,

I've been asking for critiques on my shop and one of the things people keep bringing up are my store policies and that they are "cold." Although my business professor says that are very professionally written and reasonable, I don't know what to do. I think they are clear and too the point and what I would expect from any shop. Maybe I'm strange but professionally written or "cold" policies don't put me off. Can you guys help me? Can you message me too because I'm horrible about keeping track of where I post!

Re: store policies

I think you should try to write the policy in a different person. You have them written in first person and it's just weird. Instead of "if I don't receive payment" try "payment must be received....". See if writing them in that voice works better. It's ok to use "I" but using too much in business writing is rather strange. Your refund and exchange policy is very unclear. What exactly are your trying to say? "It is the fault of the shipping company." What shipping company? Do you utilize a third party to ship your items?

Re: store policies

I think the main reason it is important to have friendly and welcoming policies on Etsy is that a lot of buyers prefer shopping here because of the personal connections. Wording things very professionally may not necessarily be a problem, but you may attract more customers by presenting yourself in a more personal way.
