A few weeks ago I madea call to someone at Etsy. I wasn't smart enough to save the phone number. I guess I thought if I found it once it wouldn't be hard to do it again. Wrong! I'm not sure where I found it or if it was part of some sort of Beta test........ at any rate.. does anyone have a number to call or a link for a live chat with Etsy staff?
Thanks,
LInda Jensen
Hi, Linda,
I have 844/659-3879 as a phone number for Etsy. A while back when they were introducing a new program (I think Etsy Plus) this number was posted. If you are not able to get through or talk to someone, let me know and I will search further. I know it is very frustrating. I sell vintage on Etsy as "greatauntsyl". Do you have a question I may help you with?
Best regards,
Sylvia Cornell (greatauntsyl)
Thanks Sylvia!
I got your message in my email so came looking for this..... Otherwise, no I wouldn't have seen it.... Frustrating as I checked the box for email alerts for respomses. It all makes me feel like I'm getting old and not keeping up with technology!!!!
I started to explian everything,,,,, then thought why not try the call. I'd assumed that it was too late in the day, but it wasn't!!! So I spent some time on the phone with Etsy support. THANK YOU SO MUCH for the number. I have saved it this time!!
After going through several things...... about so far down the path then saying NO here's the problem with that...... WE did a calculate the shipping price and FINALLY the guy got the problem. Etsy's package size dimensions only allows for 1" in height. That makes it a parcel for USPS!! Large envelopes can mail as first class at .75" and less. Well on the Etsy size you can't put in 0 and you can't put in a fraction or decimal... Vala!!! The problem is now identified!!! Now he has put in a request for someone else to email me and see if there are other options.
As I told him, even a computer disc should mail in a large envelope and certainly there are people on Etsy sending items like that or of similar size...... I'm not the only one with this issue. By using Etsy's shipping profile my shipping increases over a dollar in every instance like this!!!
This is what I was explaingin to you earlier......
My current issue is working with shipping. My shop is LJs Totes and Treasures. My primary product is infinity scarves. I have my shipping set up to be $3.50 for the first scarf and $.75 for the next two then one free. This generally matched closely with what my USPS rates were before the new rate change. I'm trying to maintain those rates even though sometimes I have to pay more. In some instances a scarf is so light and lays flat enough that I can send it as a first class large envelope with a rate of approximately $1.50. That really helps offset the overages I have on some of the heavier/bulkier ones. That's only if I don't use Etsy shipping/labels.
What I need help with or would like to get to is having the shipping at $3.50 to the customer (as current) and I can pay by weight and zone. Getting the discount seems helpful, but not when the discounted price is higher than if I just weigh and use stamps!!!
Do you know: Does Etsy have rates for standard First Class Large Envelope? The only thing I can find is FAT Envelope. NOw I know that they currently don't!!! I'm amazed.
I may have to use Etsy shipping for most of the packages and do it manually when I have a "lighweight"!!!!
Any thoughts are welcome~
Linda
