Secret Admirer

I always wondered why would someone show up as a secret admirer when they make my shop or one of my items their "favorite"

Does anyone know why??

Re: Secret Admirer

I am curious about this too; although, having a secret admire is rather flattering. ;-)

Re: Secret Admirer

I don't like secrets! I call them secret stalkers. They come to your shop to spy and get ideas...Just my opinion.

Re: Secret Admirer

Oh yeah, I didn't think about that! If they were in your shop to gather information about your items...why would want to "favorite" an item? Maybe it was a mistake and now they're exposed!

Re: Secret Admirer

Yes, I don't know why anyone would want to be a secret admirer. Makes no sense.

Re: Secret Admirer

If you buy on Etsy to resell you would not want anyone knowing where you got your top secret stock from, so you would protect your sales AND YOUR FAVORITES.

Favorites are not only a way to show love, but a convenient way of bookmarking items for purchase later.

So if you spend $10 in findings and 3 hours on making a necklace you sell for $40 you would not want your customers to get wind of your top secret stash shop or they would just go and buy the items and make the necklace themselves rather
than your OOAK original.

So I think people who do a lot of reselling may protect their favorites. So anything they favorite comes up as a secret admirer.

Something to chew on..

Re: Secret Admirer

Good Point RetroChalet! I have had people ask me sell to them cheaper so they can put my things in their shop. I explain I am not mass marketing this stuff, I'm recycling! I will try not to be so cynical!

Re: Secret Admirer

Some people use their favorites as a wishlist of items they want to buy. They make their favorites private because others could possibly purchase an item before they do.
But the reselling theory worries me :(
