I'm teaching a few people how to draw with pencil/charcoal and I've been having trouble getting my students to understand the concepts I've been trying to teach. I was wondering if some fellow artists had any books or tips on what helped them to grasp a concept in art that could be of help to me. What did you struggle with and how did you overcome it? Did a teacher tell you something or did you read something online that helped you?
I practice, trail and error. Maybe you can give your students an drawing example of what you are trying to say. Practice is always what helps me. Often I try things many times in different ways to get what I am looking for. Enjoy, Irmi

Thanks, Irmi. I usually give a demo of what I want them to do before they do it but sometimes it doesn't help. Maybe I need to explain it in a different way.
