Help to grow!

Hi all,
Ive just stared listing in the last few weeks and am really enjoying the etsy world.
I dont just make lovely cushions from vintage japanese kimono silks.
I also make cards and paint/design on and with paper.
Do you think I should open another shop or add sections to my shop and re brand showing all that I do?
Would appreciate your feedback!
Thanks

Re: Help to grow!

Im stuck with this problem too... the beautiful lady in my display picture wants to sell hand made jewelery but pens and necklaces are very different. Is it even possible to create two stores under the one name?

Re: Help to grow!

Why not just create two separate shops? I have a crafty friend with an etsy shop -- she made a second shop for her DIY wedding projects, but just used an extension of the same name (so, for example, if I made a second shop, I'd call it something like MietteDoesStuff so they're still related, but different. Then, include links to cross-reference them in both shops.

I imagine it doesn't make much difference, but maybe it's just a bit cleaner and more organized?

Although Rebecca, I suppose it depends a lot on whether your cards and other designs are still in that Japanese style -- if they are, I'd say keep them all together.

:)

Re: Help to grow!

I think more than one shop is a good idea. I sell 'expensive' originals and 'cheap prints'. The danger is if customers first view an original but want a cheaper print, they might be scared off.... and vice versa.

Miette's idea of linking them is really clever ... it spreads your impact

Re: Help to grow!

Thanks for that!
I think I will keep it under one roof for now but maybe change my banner to include my other things.
If I use different keywords then hopefully people might want to look at my other items as well?!
I really need to get them listed but am unhappy with the images so need to spend more time getting them right, but not too long!

Re: Help to grow!

Hi Rebecca,

Sounds like everyone has already answered this questions very well! I have heard both approaches are ideal, opening a second shop or adding more sections to your existing one. For me, I would just need to approach this decision with what I could manage best. I am easily overwhelmed-- so keeping it all in one place would be the best for me, though I like the idea of having the separation and drawing two different markets.

I suppose you could always try one or the other and then change too:)

I have been watching a lot of the online labs and one speaker was saying that you can have two markets for one shop, and to have different pricing levels actually allows this to happen, so maybe that's a good route to take.

Let us know how you do, it will be interesting to see how your stats change!
