Variation and Quatity

Hi Everyone,

I am new to Etsy and I am struggling to understand how variation works when listing an item.

My question is if I have 2 pairs of earrings, a blue and yellow pair; after been listed in my variation, how many do I add in my quantity. Is it 1 or 2? I don't want customers to assume I have 2 pairs of blue if the 2 in my quality is for the blue and yellow earrings.
