I'd agree with Runz in that it's more important than ever to work with being found by search engines. I've always had to do that because I sell something that people don't generally come to Etsy to buy, so people coming to browse or using the site search have never given me much business. The one thing I did that helped my SEO the most is tweaking the "shop title" - that little phrase right below the banner. Put your most important keywords there.
I'm not planning to join many teams. I was already a member of two teams: one for rosary makers and one for people who live in Omaha. If this team gives me what I'm missing from the forums, I might just stop here - unless/until I see one that really strikes me as one I want to join.
I haven't started any circles. Those are probably more useful if you tend to have a lot of buyers who are also Etsy sellers. Out of almost 140 sales, only two of mine have been to an Etsy seller (the same one twice), so I really don't see them as doing me much good.
Except for a very neglected blog, I don't do any offsite social marketing, but that's just for lack of time not because I don't think it's helpful. Etsy is a part-time activity for me, so I can only do so much.
