The need to RSVP?

Quickie question - this is our first Craft Party, and what we have in mind is a public event to both engage local families and members of the public, but also hopefully to capture other local makers who either already sell on Etsy but don't know about the team, or don't know about Etsy at all - and encourage them to join us!

The format of the event will be a free ongoing daylong workshop that people can drop in during a bigger event. We've run similar things many many times before so we're very happy with the format and that it will work. Our only question is - this year seems to have a focus on using Eventbrite to presumably measure interest and numbers etc. but that's not relevant for our event as people will just come and go as they please!

Is using Eventbrite necessary, or are we good to just ignore that element, create a FB even page and promote via that?

(I think I might be fretting over nothing?! :) )

Re: The need to RSVP?

It's not necessary especially since Etsy is not giving out incentives this year for having a certain number of RSVP. However, I would highly suggest you at least set up a Facebook event page and utilize it well. Don't just set it up and leave it there waiting for people to find it. Share it and have other share it...invite people to it, and make a flyer that has the link on it.
This way there is one central place that has all the information on it that people need to know; location, time, what it's about, what to expect, etc.

Re: The need to RSVP?

I'm so used to FB I just sat here looking for a like button then realised I'm on the teams pages. Oops! After I posted here, I spotted on a FB page where Ajeet stated you don't HAVE to use Eventbrite, which is a relief! We'll definitely be promoting it - we just didn't think Eventbrite was the right vehicle this time around. :)

Re: The need to RSVP?

Hi Frilly Industries,

Such a great question.

There is no requirement to use Eventbrite to promote your event, you're welcome to use whichever tool you feel most comfortable with. I do recommend however, that you use on your own channels and encourage your attendees and participants to also engage with you and the rest of the Craft Party community through social media using the #etsycraftparty hashtag.

Hope that helps!
