Community is at the heart of all we do at Etsy.

Etsy Teams has been an important part of the Etsy community for over 15 years. Teams help members navigate the challenges of being an Etsy seller and provide the kind of support and expert advice you can only get from your peers.

Teams support sellers at every stage of their journey, which is why they’re a huge part of what makes our community so successful.

We’re excited to announce that our Teams platform is getting a facelift!

Throughout 2020, we have been investing in tools and experiences that support our seller community including Etsy U, our seller education space, and The Etsy Market, our new virtual marketplace experience.

In 2021, we’re launching improvements to our Teams space and building out new features to better support our Team Captains.

As we prepare our community space for the relaunch, here's what our Team Captains need to know:

  • We’re removing inactive teams as of October 19, 2020. We are sunsetting teams that haven’t made any posts in their team’s forum since June 2019. This will allow us to focus our efforts on more active and engaged teams.
  • Removed teams will be temporarily archived for 30 days or until November 19, 2020. If you are a registered Team Captain and you can’t find your team, or if you believe your team was removed in error, reach out to us here with the name and URL address for your team, and we will do our best to help you out. It’s important that you reach out to us by 12:01 Eastern US time November 19, 2020. After November 19, 2020, teams that have been archived will be permanently removed.
  • The Team Announcements widget will be removed during the Teams relaunch, currently planned for January 2021. For teams re-joining us on the new platform, there is one modification that will affect you: we are removing the Team Announcements widget on the right navigation of your team homepage, and content there will be deleted during the relaunch. The new platform will have improved functionality for this. If you are using this area to share important information, please be sure to preserve it by pinning it as a new discussion to your team forum, referencing it offline or saving it for your records now, prior to the relaunch. It will not be archived after the launch.
  • Subscribe to Etsy's Community News for updates on launch plans and next steps.

What’s new

In the new Teams platform, Team Captains will have more options to build community and engage with their members. Captains will be able to choose from three discussion styles:

  • Forums: This is how teams currently communicate and our default communication style. Keep this setting to continue conversations via threaded discussions.
  • Blog posts: Add more formal communications to your team! Enable blog posts so members can stay in the loop and engage with regularly published content.
  • Knowledge base articles: Build out your team’s resources. If you have educational resources, a charter or other important documentation to share with members, you can add this feature.

You can also combine all three discussion styles to create an even more robust member experience.

We’re also enhancing the experience so it’s easier for sellers to find the right teams to match their needs with:

  • A more streamlined discovery experience that prompts you to browse by location or by category to find the right team
  • More categories to choose from like workshops, marketplaces and meetups

We’re excited about the future of Etsy Teams on the new platform, and we can’t wait to see what you do with it! We are also committed to listening and learning so we can continuously improve this experience.
