Are you a blogger for your shop? Are you intimidated by the process?
It's easy to set up a blog, and you can find many hosts that are free. I personally use www.wordpress.com because it's a popular one, and not too difficult to navigate. you will pay for extras like impressive theme styles, shopping carts, and fonts but if all you are looking for is a basic blog, the free services are good.
For those who may not know, "blog" is short for "weblog" (I also like to call it a brief log to remind me not to go on and on). You log on, and like a journal or newsletter, you post messages, paragraphs, articles, whatever on your site. This is good for a business like your Etsy shop, because when you create a presence on a blog, it creates traffic that can lead you your shop, which can increase the chance of making a sale. Here are a few tips for blogging:
1. Don't always talk about yourself.
Like at parties or conversing with friends, always talking about yourself can get old. Talk about artists you love, fun things you found, and things that are interesting and relevant to your work.
2. Blog often
If you can't blog daily, then try every other day or even a couple times a week.
3. Show your work.
Be creative by including your pieces in conversations, or dedicating a page to your gallery. Be generous and share the love of other artists and communities too.
