Re: >> Blog Critiques

Hello!

We'd love a blog critique please :D we love your blog so your opinions would be greatly appreciated!!

We currently post 5 days a week, with tuesdays being tutorials, wednesday being photos, thursday is our new feature post (going to be in touch btw) and friday tends to be a product update post. Monday can be absolutely anything!

Currently we don't really divulge into many personal details and don't show pictures of ourselves as we are quite shy, but we are planning to create an about us page in the very near future. Do you think having more personal stuff up will create more interest?

We would love to hear what people thought when they came across our blog. Does it read well? What would encourage people to post more? How do you think it looks? Is it too structured? We could go on all day!
Any advice on how to drive more people to the site would also be greatly appreciated ;D we would love to hear all your comments, so please just fire away!

Thanks so much for taking the time out to do this too!!

Re: >> Blog Critiques

I don't know where or how but I've seen that blog before [vividplease], I like it; a lot!

Aesthetically speaking it's wonderful, the look, the feel, it's really smooth and I like especially that it doesn't look like the typical blogspot page that someone took 5 minutes setting up and decided it was good enough.

That being said the only thing I could think of even adding or changing would be some kind of menu / category archiving so you could find the tutorials or photo entries all in one page. You guys are over two years old so I'm sure there's a bunch of archived material that is really great.

Love wordless wednesdays,& the DIY tutorials. Posts like the Andy Warhol polaroid tribute, Rockstars with their families, & Designing women really bring solid content to the blog (for me at least). The language and writing style are perfect and not contrived or verbiage. It feels like a nice conversation over coffee / tea.

My blog is ArtXNullality.wordpress.com
it's more of a photo blog to document my adventures, and provide an area to post and show off photo sets and more of my photos that aren't on Etsy.

I'm sorry, I failed to realize that the Flickr page was basically all your wordless wednesdays and the DIY stamp was the tutorials so I can't say I'd change it one bit!

Hi Melki

Thank you so much for such a great write up! We are really pleased to hear that you have seen our blog before and you like it's layout, that means a lot to us.

Is there anything particular you think we should do to encourage people to follow our blog? We are starting our first ever giveaway tomorrow so hoping that will help, but any advice would be fab to hear!
We're going to come check out your blog now :)

Thanks again for taking the time to comment, it's super appreciated and lovely to get some support on the forum!

Re: >> Blog Critiques

Vivid, your blog is seriously adorable. I love the fresh, illustrative feeling. My only thing, and it's probably just me as a picky designer, would be to make the fond size a tiny bit smaller, especially on the sidebar. I think it would help you get more content on the screen at one time, without having to scroll up and down as much. Also, it would look a bit more polished if you picked two fonts and used them consistently.
But really, that's me getting picky. My first impressions were excellent!! So cute!

Re: >> Blog Critiques

Ok, now my turn...

My name is Emily, and I run a blog called www.BeautifulHelloBlog.com I post 5 days a week about art and design (with a little photography, crafting, and inspiration mixed in). I feature outstanding artists and designers at least twice a week, and inspiration boards full of beautiful products and creations frequently.

I would love some fresh eyes to look over my blog. I've been blogging on Wordpress.com since starting the blog a few months ago and my blog has really taken off... but I WISH so badly I had started blogging on a different platform as wordpress.com is not very editable... however, I did just buy the css editing capabilities (if I can figure that out!)
Please be honest, for where my blog is (1,700 subscribers + 7,000 monthly visitors) should I switch to a more professional platform? One where I can format things a little more concisely and make it look a little better overall? Or does it look professional as is? I'm not looking forward to switching, but I might as well do it sooner than later!

Thank you so much for your honesty! I prefer the your true opinion because I'm sure my readers and visitors are thinking the same things!

Re: >> Blog Critiques

I just recently started blogging. I like to write and I love blogs with great photography. I have been featured on Canvas Corp and Tattered Angel's Blogs. They are both National Scrapbook and Paper crafting companies and I have been on another blog with large number of followers, but I do not know how to get my blog out there. Like I said I am just learning. I am doing some research. Any feedback would be great and help on getting out there.
Thank you. I am so anxious to look at the blogs of others on this team. I really enjoy looking and have found the Etsy community to be very encouraging and friendly, for the most part.
Thanks,
Annette

Re: >> Blog Critiques

Oh and not sure if I am supposed to critique the blog above mine - clearly Emily is light years ahead of me in the blogging world. It would be a very humbling thing to even try to "critique" her blog. To me it is very professional, very well done. Your artwork in amazing and the focus and intention of your blog is interesting and worthwhile. I love it and plan to spend more time there when its not midnight on Thanksgiving. The words are starting to blurrrrr.
Blessings,
Annette
