what's your take on blog vs website?

I already have a blog with blogger and post regularly, 2-3 times weekly.

For a few years now, I've also kept a separate website for the seo advantage and another jump into search engines. It's updated maybe 3 times a year.

I'm just toying with the idea of dropping the website. My blog gets way more hits than my website and sends more traffic to my etsy as well.

What's been your experience?

I also have a blog (with its own domain - www.veiledhaven.com) and a website (www.paperwhispers.com). I separated the two because they do feel quite separate from each other. In one I can talk about everything from vintage to hair to dresses and the other is to sell products.

I do think that for if your website is only there for hits then it is fine to drop it in favour of your blog which you say sends more traffic to your etsy. I do think that if you would like one day to move to your own site exclusively (i.e sell mostly outside etsy) then perhaps keeping the website makes sense.

Ruby, you have a good point about how blogs and websites might serve different purposes.

Both your sites are beautifully done. And I loved your blog post about cafe neko!

Thank you for yours thoughts.
