what do you get from this team

Hi everyone. our team had added another 100 members in the last month, and things are growing great.

I do notice some trends, and wanted some feedback.

Most members log on post their blog to the daily thread and disapear. That is ok, thats exactly what it is there for, free promotion.

But if you arent stopping to look a little maybe you are missing something great.. maybe not.

So I wanted to find out, why do you stop by. is it to look for new tips, offer advice, promote your blog, see what others are up to?

Lets face it, none of us has the time to read 1600 blogs each day, it is difficult to even look at the close to 100 that are posted daily.

But how long do you spend looking on our team discussion board? It has been very quiet lately. And also, What are we missing.

Is there something that this team should have that we dont, or anything the leadership team can do for you to make it more inviting, interesting, or beneficial to be a member?

Let me know what you think,

Thanks,

Mitch

Re: what do you get from this team

I like to follow the links to interesting blogs, mostly on the weekends though when I have the time for an extra cup of coffee. I also like the support I get in return.

Re: what do you get from this team

I've been trying to keep up with the 'stumbling' Aquariann has started. It's super quick. But I do on occasion slow down to check out a post the catches my eye.

Re: what do you get from this team

I like this team because I've gotten a lot of new followers from visits from team members, and I've found a lot of great blogs (and people!) to follow as well.

I really like being able to post questions about how to do things on your blog here because more often than not, someone has the answer if you need help. I think it's great support, even if it's just for something quick and easy.

I agree with everything ByTheBookPaper said.

I don't have time to read all the posts, especially now, while I'm consciously trying to spend more time to creating pre-holiday inventory, and less time on the computer. But I browse and occasionally start following new blogs.

Re: what do you get from this team

I like being able to just post and run, if that's all I have time for right then. But I always try to come back and check out blogs later! I've found some great ones to follow and have gained lots of comments and followers on both of my blogs, thanks to this team!

I need to check out the team blog more often though -- lots of good info there!

Re: what do you get from this team

Agree with what Kristen said, I've also gotten a lot of new followers and visitors from this team, and it's been great to "meet" new people.

Here's a random thought: I know this team doesn't have a lot of rules (which is awesome) but could there be a firm suggestion that people include a brief description when they link to a new blog post? This might just be me, but if I have no idea what you blogged about, I'm probably not going to click on it.

Re: what do you get from this team

I'm new to blogging...and like what FabricFascination said about articles on blogging (and I know there are thousands out there!). Maybe if we had a "bulletin board" where team members could share what they felt were excellent articles for bloggers to read.

Re: what do you get from this team

I agree with what littlewhitechapel is saying about a brief note on what your post is about. I like to look through...although I don't add mine too often since I feel it does not fit in with what everyone else blogs about. I like to know what the post is about so I can use my short time on the computer to find blogs I really like & would like to follow. :)

I also like to be able to post questions about Blogger when I don't understand something. I have always received a quick response!

Re: what do you get from this team

This team has been a great source of information - Giveaways, Blog Hops, and other special days like Wordless Wednesdays. I have learned so much.

Most of the time, I like to post my blog then go visit a few new blogs that I have not visited before. I spend a little time looking at the list of Discussion Topics too, but I'm trying to cut back on the time spent on the computer.

I'm also trying to keep up with the "Follow My Blog" thread. An excellent idea for getting more followers and following new blogs.

To be honest, I use to belong to several business "Quilt" blogging groups before I opened my Etsy shop. I never got half the response that I have received from the bloggers in this team. The support and the advice from all has been absolutely wonderful! I have seen a major difference in my blog's stats since joining this team.

Just to be clear - I do get wonderful support from Etsy Quilters as well.

Re: what do you get from this team

I generally post my new blog for that day, and skim through to see what interests me (in blogs) to click on and read.
What I do notice on most teams is the same few topics: new listings, new posts for the day, link lists; follow me; I'll follow you, etc.
What I woul like to see or hear more of would be, how others use their blogs- topics could include: do you blog for business? fun? for a creative outlet? Use your blog to promote your business or other's businesses.
Tips on stuff like that- how we use our blogs would be nice.
HOw to write an effective post.
Topics for blogging.
Tips on how to set up a blog, add photos, links, etc.
I would be more likely to stay on longer and read more blogs if there was some sort of new item of interest.
Hope these help!

Re: what do you get from this team

Oh yes, I agree with Paige and Lauren- it would be helpful if everyone puts a line about what they're post is about. I usually don't click them if I can't figure it out, and it only takes a second. I have found a lot of good posts/blogs to read, but I need something to grab me in.

Re: what do you get from this team

I think that feedback on leaving a description speaks for itself... sounds like without one people are skipping over it. I will encourage it, but I dont think it will become a rule.

@Devine, Alot of the suggestions you have made we do have articles for on the team blog www.etsyblogteam.com. I have for the last month created weekly threads for new listings, giveaways and treasuries.

I love the idea of creating categories for people to look in for business, personal, photo, or what ever kind of blog you are interested in.

One thing I would like to do is edit and finish creating our team blog list, basically all the blogs from the team. With the option to sort based on a list of criteria.

Great stuff!!!

Ditto!

I'm more of an SEO minded type person - I browse once in a while - I don't read too much (sorry) but I like to visit blogs and give page views/traffic to fellow Etsians. I always stay on page for more than 30 seconds and click other links to that google doesn't read it as a bounce.

The team gives me a way to support others and get some decent traffic in return. Thanks!
