putting ads on a blog

Hi, all. My blog is pretty small, but I'm considering doing unpaid advertising for a couple of other shops I "hang" with in the forums, chat, etc. :) Anyway, I need some advice because I don't think I'm doing this effectively! I am using Blogger.

What's the best way to add an ad? i.e. adding a picture w/link vs. asking for an HTML

Do you ask for an HTML, or just get the picture and create the HTML yourself?

How do you get to small ads next to each other?? I can only seem to get them on top of each other.

Here are some resources I used for adding ads and buttons to my blog. They helped me A LOT, so maybe they will help you too. =)

http://oikology101.blogspot.com/2008/09/make-your-own-button-for-your-blogger.html -With this html code, if the ads are small enough to fit into the sidebar(assuming that's where you are trying to place them), you should be able to just enter the html for each picture, and as long as you dont enter a line break or anything, they should show up beside eachother. Just put one html code right after the other in the html gadget.

that looks like some great advice already. Here are a few more things.

1. I found this tutorial on putting images side-by-side very helpful: http://www.etsyblogteam.com/2011/03/how-to-post-images-side-by-side.html

2. As far as adding image vs code, I think both could work. The one factor that you might consider is image size. With code, it's normally pretty easy to find image size and change the pixels. But you can also just edit your image before posting it to get the right size.

On a side note: why don't you start with a free tryout and then if advertisers are satisfied, charge something ?
