When is the best time to post?

I get all sorts of responses to this question and would love to know what you think. I have friends that set up their posts to go live at 4:30am to catch the European followers mid-morning. Others post in the evenings after dinner. What works for you?

I try to schedule mine to post around 8-10am so I have all day to promote them, but that doesn't always work out. However, I usually get the most visits 7-8am - almost 24 hours after a new post! So I'm not sure if when I post matters or not.

Personally, I don't think it matters. I always troll through my dashboard for all new posts from the last time I looked. So, they get seen no matter when you put them up!

I've scheduled through different times of the day and haven't noticed a huge difference. I tend to avoid too early in the morning or too late at night.

Without a doubt, I get highest traffic on Monday and Tuesday mornings. I live in California, so I schedule my posts for 5AM so that they are up by 8AM on the east coast (most of my audience is in the US). I also started using Feedburner to allow people to subscribe to the blog via e-mail, and those go out by 9AM.
A lot of people don't get online much over the weekend and Monday AM is when they catch up on emails, feeds, etc.

I try to get my posts up between 6-8 a.m. CST...can't give a reason why, it's just what I do!

I also have a mental deadline of 10 am EST when I am prepping my blog posts. And yes I visit most of my blog through my Google Reader which I do sometimes during my lunch break or later at night.

I seem to get the most hits a day if I post early ( 5-6:00 am east coast time) if I post later I def miss hits for that day.That said do I make them up later - probably.

I am on the West Coast and agree that most hits are from the USA. So I schedule posts for 3:00 AM. That is three hours later than the East Coast time. There are early risers there that read before work. The 3 AM time allows them to catch the blog before work if they like. I always have comments when I wake up. Nice!

I don't know if this helps, but...

The ad agency I work for does a ton of digital/online (facebook pages/applications/social media) work with some large national clients. For us, the best time to post something to get the highest response is between 11-3. The weekends are really slow, Wednesday is the highest day for comments.

I wonder if that depends on blog type. Monday and Tuesday are usually my biggest days and I find 11-3 is the deadzone with most comments clustered between 8-10 and 4-8.

I don't use the GFC dashboard to read blogs - I'm following way too many. I do keep up with several through my favorite blogs widget on my right sidebar, though. I also try to visit the blogs of those that comment on mine.
