What do you write about?

Right now I'm mostly drafting posts for my blog to coincide with my shop opening. Right now it looks like I'm mainly writing how-to and inspirational posts, things that involve the reader. I think I'll write more about myself as I become comfortable with blogging.

So my question for you is what do you write about on your blog? What kind of content do you like to read about?

Re: What do you write about?

My blog is a personal blog. I started writing it for friends and family years ago. It has grown and involved. I do post about my art and tutorials, but mainly I just write about whatever in on my mind. I realize this might not be the most successful strategy but i feel like I need to be true to why I started blogging.

I will say, maybe it just because I started blogging as a personal blogger, but when people don't share a little of themselves in their blog I drop them from my reader. I can get impersonal DIY projects and inspiration photos from magazines. I like blogs because they provide a little window into people's lives.

Best of luck!

Recycling and upcycling. I'm also going to create a gallery of my upcycled greeting cards I've made as an inspiration for viewers.

Re: What do you write about?

I started my blog in mid-2010 to get over my burnout as a corporate writer. After I launched my etsy shop (upcycled clothing) six months later, it evolved into a place to observe the creative process as well as the whimsical and quirky things. As I am a dance teacher, there are posts about the handmade dance costumes I've sewn from thrift store bed linens and vintage slips.

The overall theme is a journey I invite my readers to join me in as I navigate my life as an immigrant baby boomer reinventing herself.

I agree with Jaime Barks—I like to get a sense of the blogger as a person; otherwise it just feels like any other publication put out by an anonymous entity.
