Was featured on Pinterest!

Pretty psyched. My DIY Father's Day Project - http://pinterest.com/pin/37999190578957183/ - was featured in a Pinterest newsletter. It's now up to over 20,000 repins and I've seen a surge of traffic to my blog as a result. I was amazed however that so many people - based on the comments - have no idea you need to click through the photo to get the to the source and actually find the tutorial. So I added a text link to my pin within the pin. So definitely verify your pinterest profile, pin all of your diy blog posts and create blogs posts relevant to current events. And if you don't have a pinterest account for your blog yet, definitely create one!

Re: Was featured on Pinterest!

Congratulations! Great advice. I work for a newspaper so every pin I make for them tells reader to click on photo for entire article - just because I figured we'd attract a lot of locals that wouldn't be familiar with Pinterest. Now I'm going to start doing the same for my own pins!

Re: Was featured on Pinterest!

That is awesome! Congratulations, Rebecca! And thank you for sharing your advice - that is something I never thought of. Clicking through is intuitive for a lot people, but I'm sure there are tons of people who happen upon Pinterest without understanding how it works. Probably like how I still haven't figured out Tumblr.

Re: Was featured on Pinterest!

You're welcome. Pinterest is definitely not something you want to rule out. Google used to be my #1 traffic driver. Now it's pinterest, followed by direct traffic, followed by Craftgawker. Google is now 4th.

Re: Was featured on Pinterest!

Thank you so much. My son actually created and executed this project. I just blogged about it so he's the one who really gets the credit. :)
