Trying to redo blog

I've been slowly trying to get my blog the way I want it with no luck. I still don't like it. I made a new header in photoshop. I chose white background. It turned out grey. So I chose transparent background and it's grey. What should I do??

I play around with templates, margins, css - and also have help. You Tube is a great resource on how to do things too.
