Putting Ads on Blogger

I currently accept ads on my blog and I do it all myself. I invoice through PayPal and create the HTML with the photo I am sent.

I have blogger and was wondering if there was a more automatic way of doing ads so that I can control how many are accepted and have it automatically rotated or something. It's very time consuming for me to figure out rotations and such.

I'd love any advice you've got on this topic.

Thanks! :)

Have you thought about using Project Wonderful? They charge a commission, but you don't have to do a thing and they even send bidders your way through their search function. Here's my experience with it thus far - http://blog.aquariann.com/2010/05/its-project-wonderful-life.html

You can also use Google Ad Manager to organize your ads if you still want to handle all the money.

Thanks. I'm checking out Google Ad Manager. I don't mind the payments and stuff, just want them automatically rotated so I don't have to move them around since I work full time & can't always get to a computer. Thanks do much!

I use http://www.passionfruitads.com. It is great! You decide how many ads you want displayed and what sizes then it generates a code to place on your blog that allows people to purchase ad space. Once someone purchases an ad, they upload the ad themselves and you have the opportunity to deny or approve it.

I use Passionfruit, as well!

I absolutely love that everything looks so pretty and that they take care of ALL of it for me!

I just wait for an email and click "Approve" or "Deny."

It really is beautiful! :)

See it in action at http://www.momsdailyzen.com

I currently have banner ads and buttons displayed, and I use it to host my shop directory and front page feature products. I love that you can pretty much customize every single aspect of the app!

Re: Putting Ads on Blogger

I started using AdSense a little while ago. I really don't make anything with it, but I'm afraid of too many ads on my blog in terms of turning off readers.

Great info I was thinking of doing ads but had no idea where to start. Now I can check out the places you all mentioned.

I don't like that Adsense doesn't let you control the quality or specifics of the ads. With Passionfruit, I still get to choose and moderate my ads, but they take care of all the logistics... and for a very small, reasonable fee!

I am looking at passionfruitads but I have no idea how much ads on blogs normally cost or the sizes of them. Any suggestions?

Re: Putting Ads on Blogger

It depends on the monthly pageviews you're getting and where you plan to display the ads.

Last month, Mom's Daily Zen had over 6300 pageviews and over 4000 unique pageviews. Plus. my subscribers get updates right to their email inbox, so it is more effective readership in my opinion.

So, for the top banner ad (displayed above the fold) I charge $15 a month because the ad is displayed alone and at the very top of the page. Below the fold banner ads are $10 because they are still at the top of the page, just right below the fold. Button ads are a bit further down, so they are only $5.

However, if you plan to fill up your top columns with other widgets, you'll have to lower your prices to be appropriate for the ad placement.

You can take a look at how I have things organized to suit my desired pricing schedule at http://www.momsdailyzen.com

Are there any widgets that allow you to do it yourself without taking a cut of your income?

If you're blogging on a self-hosted wordpress, you can try any of these plugins:

Re: Putting Ads on Blogger

I tried Google ad manager and I didn't really know what I was doing so I wasn't able to get the ads to show on my page. Oh well. Maybe I'll look at the other site that charges for the coming months. :)
