Problems with Google Friend Connect?

Hi everyone! I thought I'd start this thread asking for a bit of help. I've been having problems with google friend connect for the past couple of weeks. I can't seem to follow any blogs with it which is a little annoying because I find it the most convenient tool to follow people. Whenever I click 'Join This Site' I get an error message that says;

'We're sorry...

We were unable to handle your request. Please try again or return a bit later.'

Just wondering if anyone was having the same issue or had any fixes? I've tried clearing browser history, re-attaching the gadget and other little things.
Thank you!
~Hannah

That's because GFC is no longer supported. Google wants everyone to use Google+ to follow blogs.

Yeah, I think Brittany is right. When Google Reader went away a while ago, everyone guessed that Google Friend Connect would also be defunct.

I've been using Bloglovin ever since Google Reader went kaput and have never found a better reader, to be honest. You should give it a try. :)

Here's all you have to do:

When the pop-up comes up after clicking on the "join this site" link, if you click on "More Options" you'll be able to follow the person!

Re: Problems with Google Friend Connect?

I am not famaliar with a "more options" button, but I do agree, it doesn't work because it is being discontinued. Google+ or bloglovin are the popular ones, there are other readers out there . I suggest building your follow list on one of those sites rather than trying to finagle GFC to work. Even if you get it working occasionally, it is just something that is not going to be around long run. I would also encourage bloggers who still have the follow link on their sidebars, to update it to a link for a site where users CAN easily follow.

I get frustrated with changes sometimes because I am habitual, but lots of people work hard to make their options for blog following intuitive, so give it a shot, and let us know what you end up using.
