Hi! Your blog template looks very pretty. However one suggestion I have is to use a background color that is close to your image background. The reason is that while the background image is loading, everyone will see the black background, and it's quite startling. You should have a nice easy transition from color-background to image-background. I'd recommend probably a really light tan, basically the same color as your blog content background, like #fcf4f1.
Although now after scrolling more I see that the black background is so that you can have a separate top and bottom. But since you are using such large images, it IS going to take a long time to load :-/ Can you at least use a less jarring color, like green to go with the grass? Or, can you go along with tan for that repeating portion anyways?
By the way, I don't completely understand the first part where the top background image meets the black background. It's not a gradient or anything, it's just like bubbles or something... Have you thought about making it a gradient, similar to the way you did the footer? And maybe a gradient onto a green background...
One thing I really like is that your right nav doesn't have a TON of stuff. I get so overwhelmed when people have like 20 things in their right nav. However, your shop link is below the fold (the user has to scroll to see it). That's fine for your little widget, but I also recommend having a link somewhere where people will see it right away. Either in the header, like next to HollyByGollie (but in smaller font) you could have (shop) in parens like that, or maybe as the very first item in the right nav, or as part of your top nav bar (where you currently have Home, Posts RSS, Comments RSS - I would say add it after Home).
Anyways, overall it is of course very beautiful. If you designed that, you are one heck of a graphic artist! So these things are just small nitpicky things. If you take one piece of advice from me, let it be that I think you need a more prominent link to your shop :)
