Interviews and guest bloggers

I've been doing my blog, peachesandpebblesweekly.blogspot.com, for a couple of months, and I've decided to start taking it seriously. I have 25 followers, and I intend to change the name as it's too connected with my shop and I'd like them to be more separated.

I post tutorials/recipes/printables each friday, and do a feature from my team Etsian Ballyhoo at the beginning of each month, as well as some features of 4 items added to my favourites each week.

My question is this: I want to do interviews every 2 weeks, but I'm not sure how to go about asking. My first interview was like a trade off, I interview her and she interviews me, as we were both starting out. My second interview was again a sort of trade off, she wanted to feature me in her blog, and I decided to repay the favour by interviewing her.

I don't want to interview just -anybody-, only people whose work I really admire or people here who are genuinely interesting, but I'm a little shy with how to approach them. Does anyone have any suggestions? Because I know that if I open a thread saying HAI I NEED PPL 2 INTRVEEW I'll just get bombarded with people who aren't right for my readers (though only a few readers at the moment, they are actually frequents to my blog so they are valuable) and I'll also feel like I -have- to interview them. I don't like to disappoint people.

I also wanted to get some guest bloggers in but that might take a back seat because, while I have a blogger in mind, she's not been blogging for long and may not have much to say.

So, to round up: do you interview people on your blog, and how do you go about asking them? All responses are appreciated ^^

I think it is easier to interview shop owners that you are genuinely interested in. I would suggest for you to find a shop that you love and just convo them personally and ask if they would be interested in an interview for your blog. Maybe if they are too busy to do an interview, they would give you permission to do a feature on some of your favorite items from them...

I wouldn't be shy about asking people if you can interview them - most would jump at the chance (well I know I would!)

I agree! Just convo people you have an interest in, I'm sure most would be happy to do it. Or, you could post in team threads and see who you find. You may actually find some new favorites, or get to know a really great person. I am on the last interview of a series I did over the fall, and I have to tell you that I just put out requests in my teams and I got a TON of great shops who responded. I found some new favorite shops and plenty of new blogs to follow! If you find that someone doesn't fit, it's ok to tell them that or just let them know that you have enough people for the time being. But it might be nice to see who you can find. :)
