I am brand new to blogging. I have created a blog, which was actually more time consuming than I ever thought it would be :) , and I know this sounds like a crazy question, but now what happens?? So far, I have just been having some fun with it and will probably start getting down to business and promoting my shop etc. I am starting to get some followers and don't actually know how they get the posts to read them. Yup, I am blog ignorant. Do followers have to go to you blog page and read blogs or do they come to their email or what? Do bloggers blog only about their Etsy shops and happenings or do you try to throw in some personal stuff to make it a little more interesting for people to want to follow? I would just like to hear from some of you seasoned bloggers. Thanks!

Followers following through google friend connect and through blogger will usually see your blog through their lists of blogs that they're following. Or, if followers sign up for RSS feed, a reader, or email subscription, they can read your blog that way. It depends on how they choose to follow you.

Bloggers blog about whatever they choose. If you want to mainly talk about your shop, you can. But you can also share your interests, or offer tutorials. People love tutorials. People also love pictures!

I'm an older Etsyian (in age, not in Etsy) and so my perspective is a little different. I'm not sure that's necessarily good, but it is different. I include family life with adult children and grandchildren, our farm/country life, my sewing and quilting, a few tutorials, and recently lots about canning since I have a large garden. I also profile blog writers and other Etsyians at least weekly. This is much easier than I expected and gives me one more thing to write about other than myself.
I'll go over and follow you (and the others on this page). I love meeting new bloggers.

Thanks for all the tips! This is all so interesting. So many different approaches and styles to blogging! I guess that is what makes it so interesting. If someone writes a comment on one of your posts, how do you comment back? I wanted to reply with a big THANKS to you, Mary of fleurdelisquilts, but it appeared my comment would just be another comment under the post that you would never see unless you actually pulled up the comments and I can't imagine anyone doing that unless they are a little obsessed! Is there a way to comment back just to one person or is it protocol just to not respond to comments. I would really like to respond as that is when you start to get to know some of your followers.

When the comment comes to your email addy, you can hit "reply" to answer back those with an email available for reply. This makes replying to comments very easy.

Before I started blogging I checked out a good book from my local library titled "blogging for Bliss" by Tara Frey. It's geared toward crafters artist, etc. and I found it full of great ideas.
