How to go about finding ad sponsors?

I've decided to leave project wonderful behind and venture out into finding ad sponsors on my own for a variety of reasons. For those of you who offer sponsor ad spots, how do you go about getting sponsors? I have placed a temp ad on my blog - you can see it at http://www.soapdelinews.com - that links to information on how to place an ad along with rates etc. I will be promoting sponsors throughout all of my social networks in addition to having a highly visible ad on my blog.

Haven't taken a look yet, but I would suggest using Passionfruit. It makes it so all you have to worry about is promoting your spots rather than managing them manually.

Go to getpassionfruit.com

I'd also put your blog stats up in the Blog and Sponsor group, advertise there about your traffic, ad opportunities, and any perks. Then start by doing a few ad swaps (can still be free with Passionfruit coupon codes). Once shops and other blogs see the traffic, they may return as paying customers.

Interesting. I've never heard of them and basically it's paypal fees plus a $1 which is very reasonable. I'll look into it. I couldn't tell from the faq whether you can use custom ad sizes or not.

Oh. They take fees then pay you via paypal which takes more fees. Do they market your ad spots to interested parties or just act as a platform to serve ads?
