Giving away my blog...I think.

Okay...I am so frustrated with myself! When I started my blog, I was having so much fun with it and I was really enjoying getting it going and I loved working it. My problem is that I'm a "process" person, I love the process of working on something, but once I've got it the way I want it, I lose interest! I feel so bad because I feel like I've got the beginnings of a really great blog going, I just don't want to do it anymore! I find myself making excuses not to post each day. I'm supposed to have a shop feature for this Saturday and I haven't even made up the questions to send to the shop I want to feature!

To make a long story short, my blog is in a wonderful state of growth right now and I have 298 followers. If I do decide to give it up, would anyone be interested in taking it over? Here's the link... http://onlineshopspotlight.blogspot.com/

Re: Giving away my blog...I think.

I checked out your blog--very nice.

Ok, honesty time! We all hit those points where we don't know what to write, or have time to do wht we should. Have you ever thought of making your blog a team effort. Say, get a couple of friends who can contribute on a regular basis and rotate your posts from day to day so all the work is not on you.

With blogging, the main thing is why you are doing it. Are you gathering followers to lead them to your retail online business? Do you just love to write? Do you love the interaction with commenters and followers? You need to ask yourself these questions and a few more. There are tons of blogs out there that are good, some not so good, and some are just like all the rest. Does yours fill a niche, and that is why there are so many followers? If it does fill a niche, then someone else writing it may not be the answer, since maybe your personality/product is what everyone is following after.

My blog is about family and creativity, and inspiration. I've done it for over two years now and I hit those times that I stagnate. I've just recovered from one of them, and I'm getting back into it now.

Hope this helps a bit. Good luck!

Re: Giving away my blog...I think.

My blog doesn't really fill a niche - it's content is all about focusing on different Etsy shops. The reason I started it was for exposure to my own shop and other Etsy shops. Most of my followers are there because of giveaways and aren't likely loyal readers!

I've never thought about making the blog a team effort, that sounds like so much...effort!I know that sounds terrible! Do you think that posting 3 times a week is enough? I'm feeling like maybe I should try to push through this point and see if I can get past it, because I AM worried that I will give up my blog and later regret it! I do love to write, but I don't love being on a schedule, but I know blogs are more successful when they are regular and not so sporadic!

Re: Giving away my blog...I think.

Thanks for the input cubits! I'm thinking that maybe doing a giveaway only once a month would be very helpful also. They are very time consuming to set up and promote. Doing them once a week is a lot.
